I’ve owned 2 Porsche’s, a 2022 992.1 S and a 2025 Macan S EV…this past decade.

Other than the charging adapter, to be able to use the tesla superchargers (I have no intention of using…but hey, maybe one day?), I have received no freebies from Porsche.

Wait, I forgot my dealership does offer free pastries and espresso/Latte. 😎 👍 But I think most high end dealerships/cars do the same.

PS - The only thing I wish Porsche offered on the 2024 and 2025 is the ability to open/lock your car with your phone. I realize it’s available on the 2026, but even my 4 year old 2022 Polestar has this capability. That is a nice feature to have. I assume (?) it needed different hardware than what’s on my 2025 Macan…although if one already has the “proximity“ option to unlock the car, I can’t see why the Porsche does not offer the “digital key” as a software update?

I had an Audi E-tron before the Macan. Audi made no attempt to update software. Given that they discontinued the vehicle, that now should not have been surprising to me. I learned that Tesla-style updates weren’t the norm. So I didn’t expect Porsche to update as frequently as Tesla, but I also have Tesla friends who don’t like that things are changing frequently.

OTA is irrelevant to some of us. I actually like visiting the dealership occasionally. The Scottsdale Porsche staff appear highly competent compared to the dealer stories I read here. Anecdotally, they rank in the top 5 dealers by volume in the US. I have two Macan’s (I’m a risk taker). Latest software updates both went fine; each took a day (drop off in the morning, pick up late afternoon, free loaner vehicle). There‘s definitely is a learning curve for the service departments, but Scottsdale seems to have excellent staff who more than meets my expectations.

I’ve had no issues with either vehicle since the last update. Both are working without anomalies. I guess if I did have problems, I’d either cut my losses and get rid of the vehicle or proactively stay engaged with the dealer to try and get the problems fixed. Doing anything else is allowing myself to become a victim. It helps that I trust the dealership’s service department.

As extensively discussed in another thread, the Apple digital key requires both a hardware (NFC reader in the door handle and an NFC service card), comfort access, and a software update.

2026 Owner’s Manual:
NFC door handle (DHSP0426NFC)
13.553 – 13.567 MHz
≤ 42 dBμA/m @ 33 ft. (10 m)
NFC service card
13.553 – 13.567 MHz

No NFC in my 4 yo Polestar. Uses Bluetooth. The tech has been around for quite a while…not trying to stir up anything, just saying it would be nice if Porsche offered this feature.

The Polestar digital key
uses encrypted technology in your smartphone or smart watch's wallet app (via Bluetooth, UWB, or NFC) to lock, unlock, and start the car without a physical key. It enables passive entry, allowing the vehicle to detect your device and unlock when you pull the handle

I agree, it would be nice. Not very hopeful though…

However my biggest gripe is that we (model year 2025) are not receiving any more software updates at all after the WSJ0. No new features, no charging planner filtering, no proper fixes of the outstanding issues. That is my real complaint and disappointed. I should have maybe not expected it but since the marketing slides contained OTA I expected it somehow.
That's right. And in my opinion, it's a misguided policy by Porsche, one that strikes at the very heart of their own business.

Porsche has always boasted about the low depreciation of all its models and has made this a key selling point.

However, if you let your EVs become obsolete because you don't update their software, you're contributing to their premature depreciation.

So, if in 3 or 4 years I feel my car is outdated, I won't buy a new Porsche because I'll already know what will happen. I'll look for a brand that takes care of its cars and its customers.

I'm not saying you have to update the hardware for free, but if there are software improvements in MY2026 that you can update in MY2024/25... Do it!

They are definitely equivocating on EV’s for all sorts of reasons. Starts and stops and questioning direction is not a good way to compete in this fast moving world. It’s also clear they were so focused on engineering driving dynamics (a really good thing) that they failed to properly prioritize software and software architecture in these cars. Frankly given the mixed messages and confusion coming out of Porsche, I’m not even sure that in 2028 when my lease runs out, they’ll even be making the Macan EV for sale in the US anymore. Such a shame. So far, my Macan has been a bit glitchy but a real pleasure to drive. I’m not looking for FSD in a Porsche but fixing bugs and adding the occasional feature when they can is not too much to ask for.. especially given the price. Let’s hope the Cayenne EV is successful and gives them direction. If not, it’s likely to be just ICE Porsche’s for a shrinking market. I’m personally not going back to ICE cars no matter what the idiot in the White House says.

My car received some kind of OTA update last month for Sport Chrono/Smart lift. I guess OTA was enabled during last update at dealer.

Are those add on apps? I can't tell. If they are, then they definitely get updates over the air... just like any app on your iPhone or Android.

Smart lift is not an app on it's own, it's a feature relating to air suspension. So I guess this is an update to car's native system.

Its not. Its just app as any other which is the reason why you see it under app store alongside with for example youtube.
