Doesn't Electric Sport Sound add additional external speakers as was / is the case with the Taycan?
Based on the listings on Suncoast, I believe external speakers are part of the option.
The display of the option in PCM remains a simple flag in the code.

Yes but you need the hardware in the first place which I think sets the context of the original point - it's not just reliant on a software flag (not to mention the coding required from PIWIS) being 'on' or 'off'.

Think until the October update is actually deployed, there'll be a lot of speculation as to what prior MY models will be able to get. I wrote to my SA earlier and they're also unsure of what it may bring...

In my mind, the new parking virtualisation and features will probably require new hardware (faster chipsets to run the graphics predominantly).

I'm just hoping that we'll get access to the Digital key feature - something that i definitely think would be useful/practical day-to-day.

I'll be more peeved if it's just a software flag that Porsche doesn't enable for the early-adopters... But if so, it'll only be a matter of time until some smart cookie figures it out.

Again though, not a deal-breaker (to me)... We buy our cars based on what we see/know at the time, not on some future promises. It'll just leave a sour taste in our mouths to have a decent amount of revisions released so soon (relatively) after launch - not to mention make moving existing dealer stock so much harder in the interim 😅

If an upgrade doesn't require new hardware, why wouldn't they at least offer it as a chargeable option?

They charge us so much for the initial purchase that they don't need to charge us afterwards 😀.
All they have to do is make the new version more attractive, without adding any interesting new software features to older cars.

We'll see what strategy Porsche adopts in the coming weeks, let's wait and see.

I’ll be happy if the update just fixes a feature I’ve already paid for. Let me open my motorized charge port whenever i want instead of only after the car has been turned off for 30 minutes.

Even my Porsche SA told me to not spec the motorized charge port as it caused so many issues on the Taycan

For 2026 models it is $280 for Porshe Digital Key option plus for those who wish an additional $550 for all of the rest of these below-listed, new software based improvements that were just developed and released… The two key questions to me are:

1) Does one really want or need the enhancements, and 2) Are you willing to take additional risks of these newly introduced, all software based, 2026 improvements?

I ask this as our first year 2024 Macan EV, despite three lengthy dealership stays for software updates totaling 7 weeks, and despite quite a few, now functional improvements as a result (thank for you for my dealership assigning one of their Shop Foreman each time to figure out and fix the major problems), we still experience nibbling software issues several times literally every week. Yes and thankfully these carryover issues are way less critical than the majors software each time causing earlier complete system shutdowns, but wondering the advisability of purchasing a new software based round of first year enhancements. Personally, as our current lease will not be over until we custom order our 2027 Macan, we will have the fortune of reading this next year on this forum whether first year adopters had a smooth entry path with them? Are you ready to take that chance or can you live without them, or an interim position of just purchasing the $280 Porsche Digital Key option ?

For those who are proceeding ahead with the $830 3D Surround View & Porsche Digitail Key option, we fervently hope you all have smooth sailing.

  • This is quite interesting saying that it will be available for MY26 although my dealer said there is an MASSIVE update from week 36 - Although without explaining if it is for us or only them. He doesn't know either, and my car is depending on it because otherwise i can't drive it.. lol.
Any update? Asked my dealer last week and he had no information at all.

Hey! Nothing at all, last I heard from my dealer was last Wednesday and he said “I’ll let you know”. Not a single world, which pisses me off tbh.

When did you hear from your dealer?

If an upgrade doesn't require new hardware, why wouldn't they at least offer it as a chargeable option?
Because they can't (executive decision), the software was never developed even if the hardware is capable.
They already got your money no need to spend any more effort.
Why do you think Macan has:
1) No OTA updates (talking about control module (ECU) firmware updates)
2) No (in car or even otherwise) purchasing of additional functions like 2-zone climate, auto high beams, innodrive, etc.
VW has both, no need to run to the dealer every time the camera or bluetooth module needs an update and I can purchase a couple of functions I left out when speccing the car, using the cars infotainment, I have options for free trial (1 week/month if I remember), pay per month, or buy outright.
BMW became (in)famous for its monthly subscription of heated seats.
Tesla obviously started this but even VW now offers power upgrades, few clicks of the screen and your VW now has 13% more power than when it left the factory.
Porsche could easily do this (just look at the power figures under LC so there is some headroom) but they never will.

But as the saying goes hope dies last and I would kill for that digital key :CWL:

Digiutial key worked flawlessly in our BMW iX. Once however, I let my phone battery die but thankfully my wife was with me on that drive, had her car fob in her purse. Of course one can have a key fob get lost or fail on its own, so whenever we leave town we always insure we have Plan B with us,.

Supposedly digital key works on iPhone even if your battery dies. You just have to hold your phone close like you do the key card.

I always had my card on hand anyway. Never had to use it.

NFC works the same way for comfort access key fob when its battery runs out, had that happen, opened the drivers door with the key blade, alarm goes off, need to place key in cup holder over the symbol and push the start button for the car to recognize the key.
Basically works like your contactless debit/credit card, that doesn’t have a battery does it.
