Taking my first real road trip take encountering significant range/battery issues. Heading from Durango, CO to Scottsdale, AZ with charging stops in Kayenta AZ and Flagstaff.

Charged to 100% just before leaving and battery only showed 210 miles of range. At first charging stop, charged to 95% and Battery only showed about 180 miles of range. On way to next charging stop it performed well initially - and at one point showed a remaining range and battery % equivalent to a total range of ~270 miles as expected, but as soon as the batter hits 60%, the remaining range and % both start nose diving like a rock. Made it to charging stop #2 in flagstaff with only 15% which was a distance of less than 150 miles. Despite all this, the consumption is usually showing 2.8-3.0 miles/kw although this also seems to jump around a lot. I am running a luggage box on rooftop but I can’t imagine that would explain all of this.

Also noticing that at Tesla and Rivian charging stations I can’t pull a speed above 150 Kw max.

Very concerned there are significant battery/electrical issues. Any thoughts appreciated. Taking to dealer tomorrow in Scottsdale - hopefully they can address.

This definitely sounds off in calibration and/or battery.. I don't think mine has ever shown 210 at 100% .. even with the coldest temps here in the east. It lately show about 220 at 80% and then goes down to about 185 at 70%.. and around 135 at. 50% (during the summer, it shows more) I just went more than 300 miles over 2 days and never had a problem (I had to charge once of course but nothing dramatic). I was showing about 2.9 to 3.1 m/kwh consistently in external temps around 40-50 degrees F. I have a 2025 4S as well with >8k mileage. So something definitely sounds wrong or off.

Tesla and Rivian stations are 400v so Macan EV will only max at 150kw by design. While the Macan can handle up to 270 kW on 800V chargers, it is limited to lower speeds on 400V V3/V4 Superchargers.

You will want to leave it at low SoC overnight and then fully charge as others (including myself) have experienced needing to rebalance cells. Curious to know if your car is left idle for long periods or plugged in regular such that it’s always around 60-80% SoC day to day.

Would still like to know what conditions trigger this but I haven’t experienced it since rebalancing in December and then paying more attention to use a wider range of the battery regularly rather than always keeping it topped off. Just yesterday I got 13%->80% in 21 minutes, 67.68kwh for an average rate of 193kw! Did not even precondition for arrival.

Scottsdale is my home dealer. Top tier service and capabilities IMO.

I did this route last summer, Phoenix to Telluride. There are EA chargers in Flagstaff, Winslow, Gallup and Tesla in Cortez. It should be an easy trip, if the vehicle is giving you near-full range (with roof box). Going back on this route will take more energy because it is uphill.

I just finished a road trip and saw pretty much the same thing. 100% charge = 210ish mile range. Same when pulling into charging stations. 150kw max

I did my first roadtrip the past couple days. I had the same 100% range, about 210 miles. The charge planner worked well and the EA chargers I used delivered what the charge curve expected; starting from 30-40%, getting 145-160kW, but when charging from 15%T getting well over 200kW at the start. PCM predicted charge times matched reality almost exactly. The difference in range from what is communicated from Porsche is a bit if a concern, is that something the dealer should be made aware of?

As far as I can tell from my own personal experience this is definitely another battery cell rebalancing case. @tjt1976 most likely by doing this the issues you discribed will be a thing of the past.I used to see exactly the same behaviour and because I fed up with all local dealers and their ignorance I decided to perform on my own (as well others right after me) the procedure primarily issued for Taycans and discribed quite extensively in several threads in here. The service centers are definitely able to perform the procedure more effectively and proffesionaly but they refuse to do it to Macan models saying our car isn't applicable.
I sudgest to take your time and perform the procedure as accurately as possible. In fact the more accurately it's performed the better your outcomes will be.For me,1500Km later, turned out better than I would ever imagine!

I'd just add that while Scottdale is at a much lower elevation than Durango, the route from Durango to Scottsdale involves a lot of up and downhill elevation changes including heading over a pass higher than Durango early in the trip. Most of the drop in elevation occurs in the last 100 miles. This might have contributed to the early consumption disappointments.

I had the same issue and booked it in to be checked. The cells have been rebalanced and I have gone from 220 miles at 100% to 295 miles. As soon as I drive away, the range drops to about 275 miles but it is so much better than it was. There is a bulletin about this which is attached. I’m in the UK with temperatures from 0c to 14c.

I have my car booked in - many thanks I’ve forwarded the document. My forecast range in the Sat nav went really awry - initially using far too much % then on the return forecast a greater % at arrival than was showing whilst driving. I then charged to 100% to see if that improved things and the charger reported that it had consumed 45kw so 50kw to 100% but the car started charge at only 30% or 30kw.

App reported 100% with 250 miles (it is normally >300) next day I disconnected and App and car before moving reported 91% and 270 miles. I have a booking in mid April but they are trying to bring it forward.

I did the calibration reset and my car no longer claims that I can drive 460 miles on a 100% charge.

However, the navigation is still confused. Here I am navigating the 5 miles to the dealer. 63% SOC at start, estimated to 52% at arrival 15 minutes later. Not a problem around town, but road tripping becomes a bit more exciting with this mis-match
