I wrote the original post and am glad for some the door retracts if it hits the flap. For me, last December, it jammed and nothing I nor a Porsche service tech reasonably could do caused the door to retract and free the jam (he finally forced the door with great effort and was able to close the flap; glad nothing broke). It wasn’t a case of the flap spring being broken or not working.

Here is the sequence for failure: you open the flap to DC charge, but then you don’t plug the high speed charger into the car (for whatever reason) and so the flap remains open; then you don’t close the flap manually; then you move the car (or the door timer simply times out); so now the door auto closes and it jams on the still open flap. You can reread the circumstances that led to this jam in my original post, but this summary is the essence of that situation. There may be other ways for this jam to happen as well. Fortunately I have not had a repeat of this jam.

Thanks for that explanation, I now understand. I also found in the manual that once the plug is removed the door closes in 5 seconds. In addition to better programming to factor in various events and recovery actions, it would be nice to have a longer delay to close the door once the plug is removed.

Is there any way to open the charge port door from the center console screen? Couldn’t find any mention of it in the manual.

I think I’ve only seen it on the goodbye screen.

I ran into an issue on a recent roadtrip where my charge port door wasn’t opening when I touched it. Rolled the car a couple inches and then put it in park to trigger the goodbye screen. But ideally it’d be nice to have a simpler way to open it.

Please excuse the crude photos! But this is how to access charging covers...

This happened to me today, literally minutes after I explained the potential issue to my husband and specifically asked him to be careful when he plugged my car into the charger at home. He then (unbeknownst to me) proceeded to flip down the plug cover and walk over to the home charger to grab the cord, while I walked into the house with my car key in my purse, causing the car doors to lock and the charge port cover to close on the plug cover. Argh.

We took the car in to the local dealership to fix the problem, and they say they haven’t seen this before and don’t know how to fix it. No ETA on getting the car back either, which is beyond frustrating.

Any suggestions or advice for directing the service team on a fix so I can get my car back?

Two thoughts from earlier posts here: try locking and unlocking the vehicle multiple times with the key fob (seems that might have worked for someone; see post above - I’m skeptical), or get the service guys to brute force the door back/up far enough to fold the flap closed (Palm Spring Porsche did that on my vehicle). Palm Springs tried all manner of fixes, logging into the vehicle, etc., and 30-40 minutes later they forced it.

Try the sequence posted in photos above.. that should work. If you can get them to activate the ‘goodbye’ screen, that has the same visual of the car and the chargeport doors (along with the front frunk and back hatch) .. pressing down on the plug cover and activating the chargeport from that screen should work. I didn’t know about this so locking and unlocking the car while pressing down on the DC plug cover did it for me eventually. I was stuck on a road trip in the middle of NY State.. so had very few options. Good luck.

I had an e-tron with an electronic port door, and read several posts from people that had opening / closing issues. There was a long thread on audiworld on the various ways to open/close it using manual over-rides.

To me, the feature is a 3 out of 10 in terms of cool, but not being able to DC fast charge on a trip, or having a flap jammed open, would be an 8 out of 10 un-cool.

If the DC charging flap was damaged, Porsche has a new replacement part number for the DC charge port flap. The part is not yet available. It can be replaced by popping out the broken one and inserting a new one - saves having to rewire the charge port. Our 2024 Turbo DC port flap assembly was replaced by "borrowing" one from a complete assembly.

Will find the part number and repost.

I wonder if this issue got resolved by the recent software update.

today I had to reposition my car closer to the charger cause the cord couldn’t reach and like a dodo forgot to flip the dc flap back up before moving my car. I got an error in the display saying something about left charging port impaired instead of it trying to close on itself

Anything further on this part number? My flap was damaged, in exactly the way experienced by others in the previous posts.

In my experience dealing with this issue, I brought my Macan to my local Porsche dealership. They provided me with a Cayenne loaner for a week, covered everything under warranty, and even compensated me for the inconvenience. I’ve never received that level of service from any other car manufacturer.

Hmmm, maybe it’s because of your profile’s name!
Or maybe I need to take my car from Atlanta to Austin for service… lol

I finally got what I believe is the correct part. Photo attached. Any idea how to get the broken part out? It looks as if there are two tabs, one on each side, and a large upright movable structure/tab on the top. (By the way, part number is: PAD-971-904),
