I know this is not related to the OP's problem but when the car is locked, the charge doors will not open even if you have your key fob. If you open the rear door first, then the charge doors will open correctly. I thought I had a problem till I figured that out.

It’s happened to me a second time over the last two weeks. I organised for the vehicle to be “recovered” once again through Porsche Assist meaning I was supplied with a temporary car. The fix was the same as last time, Porsche reprogrammed a control unit resolving the fault. Still have no idea what caused this to happen which is a concern.
In fact it happend the very first time for me when I received the car. I was a bit concerned but the salesman said me that they had some problem with their charger and it may be that it was the reason. They fixed the problem by taking the battery cable off.
After this second time I left the car them and said that I am not going to pick the car up until the real problem is solved. I am driving now with a Taycan without any information how long it will take. According to the salesman this problem is the first one the importer in Finland has heard - it is hard for me to believe.

My Macan 4 has manual charge ports and this morning they aren’t opening. Tried both sides. Tried locking and unlocking car. No errors are being displayed. Will try opening from inside the trunk via the override. Not happy with this obviously.

Is a key in range? The car locks the charge port doors so strangers can’t open them.

Yes, of course the key is in range. Btw I tried the manual override by pulling the cord in the trunk but that isn’t working either. It’s hard to tell how hard to pull. It doesn’t look like a very sturdy cable. Anyone has any suggestions?

That cord is not for opening the charge doors, it is for releasing the charging cable.

Whether the key was in range wasn’t obvious. If you’re charging at home the key might be in the house somewhere while you’re trying to plug in the car in the garage.

Have you tried your second key?

The cord you are pulling isn't working as that's the emergency release for the charging plug not the charge port flap.
You are supposed to use it if the charging plug does not unlock.
Not a suggestion, but what I would do if I was in your shoes:
1) Hard reset (disconnect 12v negative for 30sec) hoping it resets the central locking system
2) Call dealer

Unfortunately, the service center did not have a quick solution, they pried open a charge port flap for now I have an appointment in 4 weeks. Will have to drive around with an open flap??? Not a great experience.

Hi all,
In the eight weeks that I've been driving the Macan 4S, I've had two incidents where the electric charging ports would not open. Both times, it happened on a long trip, so it was extremely disruptive and the car had to be towed hundreds of kilometers. The first time, they reprogrammed the control unit, which they said had "lost calibration." However, it happened again a few weeks later. I have not yet heard back from them regarding what they plan to do this time. I asked them to take the car back.

To the other members who have had this issue in the past: Was there a definitive fix, and if so, what exact fix did they apply (hardware, software, or both)?

Many thanks,
Christian

Hardware, no problems since :CWL: :

Joking aside (that was what I had on my first car; no central locking) I find it strange that Porsche has not included a manual override for the charge doors like you get on the normal doors, my Audi has a plastic cord you can pull from inside the boot in an emergency and fuel the car. On some cheaper VWs this cord was missing (in theory you could remove the wheel arch and push the button on the actuator to open it (this is where the cord goes; the part is the same.

Hello Christian,

I fully understand and indentify your feeling. I have received my Macan on March and met the problem not opening charging ports immediately as posted this thread already earlier. I needed to return the car to the dealer after a week and it was there in the service 1,5 month!
Importers mechanics were cooperative and active but the factory itself was not so helpful. They sent one component at a time from Germany to Finland and everytime it took a week.
Finally they decided to change the whole charging port mechanism on the left side and the problem was solved. According to the service team this was the first case in Finland.
The charging ports have now acted well after the repair project and I am not worried about it anymore. The car itself is great and has enough power.

If I were you I would contact the Porche dealer and ask them to investigate if you have exact the same failure as was in my car.

Best wishes,

Arto

Thanks a lot, Arto, that is very helpful! 1.5 months is a crazy amount of time, wow. Let's see what happens in my case, I will keep you posted.

There are other posts on this site on the doors.

My right powered door opened only intermittently. A gasket was found to be too thick, and was replaced. All good now. Might be several issues going on here, not just this one.

I had an interesting thing happen a few days ago, I think. Car was unlocked, door was open, but I couldn’t open the charge door. I then locked and unlocked the car with the key fob. I then was able to open the port. Maybe actuating the fob had some effect here, but not sure.

Some people are opening the doors using the screen that appears upon exiting the vehicle. Look on the right side of that screen for the small right and left charge port door symbols on that screen.

Finally, Out Of Spec Dave ordered his Macan 4 with the unpowered doors, but had a problem with one not opening due to the door supposedly being misaligned. He was at the dealer at the time and they resolved it pretty quickly. So unpowered doors are not a panacea.

Same issue on "my" quite new Macan 4 loaner. Right side charging port capacitive sensor detected my hand a couple of times, but since, nothing. Only solution was to trigger it from the PCM submenu.

Mine has been working perfectly since new...almost a year now but yesterday would not open. Had to use the screen. I would not order this on a new build...good old manual door is just fine...same with the frunk. Just too many reasons for it not to work and who needs to fight with it?
