A new press release out today highlights strong year over year Macan electric sales for the 6 month period including Jan-June
  • Overall Macan sales were up 15%
  • 45,137 examples of the Macan were delivered to customers (+15 per cent)
  • Almost 60 per cent of these (25,884 vehicles) were the fully electric variant
However, they added: "We expect the environment to remain challenging. So we must carefully balance supply and demand."

It will definitely be interesting to see how customers react when the 2026 model is announced.

Glad to see hard numbers from Porsche, even when parts of them are far from positive results. We here like facts. Thanks FutureMacanOwner for the find and post.

45137 - up 15% means previous sales were ~38,366 units
25844 EV Macan's represents a net loss of sales of 12522 units

so _IF_ the Macan was EV only - sales would be down vs. ICE Macan volumes…

I'm still confused by people's resistance to EV's - it's mostly FUD

my local dealer still tells me he's buying/trading EV Macan's (which he can sell on the west coast) for ICE Macan's with his east coast Porsche associates - hard to sell a Macan EV east of the Rockies - this confuses me…

glad sales are up and the EV seems to be doing "well enough" but couldn't lead a charge (no pun intended) on it's own.

I'm liking my Macan EV and it's meeting all my expectations - I think it's a great product.

I heard a lot of East coast dealers under-optioned their Macan EV inventory to keep prices down. But that made them less desirable, so they aren’t moving the inventory.

Certainly the opposite of the CPO one I bought. I do not know however what they originally ordered for in-stock sales.

It’s hard to say really, if people choosing the ICE did so because they specifically didn’t want an EV, or if the EV wasn’t available in enough volume, or if the ICE was just cheaper, or other reasons.

Still, it seems the raw number of EV Macan sales went up. And 25k deliveries in six months is pretty good. To put those into perspective, Rivian is projecting 40k units for all of 2025. And Tesla only sold 20k Model S and X in that six month period (many more 3 and Y but if we are going to compare by price point…)

I am well east of the Rockies.. my dealer is selling them and tells me sales are solid (agreed, not fantastic). I agree with all the FUD and resistance comments but that seems the case with all EV's in these MAGA numnuts days. BTW, I just had the software upgrade applied. They gave me an ICE Macan as a loaner.. boy what a comedown. It was a basic one and brand new but still .. no comparison. It's clear that people opting for those are being driven by ignorance, fear or poor information. The service advisor was wishing he had EV's to give as loaners but they haven't given him any yet. BTW, it only took 1 day from start to finish to do the rear camera and update. No issues. Not even sure what the updates actually addressed since I was not having any issues.

"worldwide sales decline of 6% year over year. But they also include a huge increase in the proportion of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug in hybrids (PHEVs), with the brand selling a total of 36.1% plug-in models across the world – meaning EVs helped to keep the company afloat as combustion car sales dropped quite a lot.

Porsche sold more BEVs than PHEVs, with a 23.5% BEV share and 12.6% PHEV share. This represents a 14.5% increase from the previous year’s results – a big rise in EV sales alongside a drop in gas model sales"

So all the talk is, ppl are forced to buy evs, or the sales would be worse if the gas wasn't available... But it's ignored that gas car sales are down...

Interesting stat that U.S. ICE vehicles sales are down every year the last three, though EV sales are up annually here.

Good point. Might it be the reverse that this fall’s known reveal of the Cayenne EV might be slowing ICE Cayenne sales. I know of a current Cayenne hybrid owner who is holding off replacing it until the new Cayenne EV is revealed.

I was in the Boston area over the last few weeks and wanted to show my dad an example of a Macan EV like the one I purchased, and was surprised to see such low/limited inventory of them at the dealers in that region.

I am only a couple of weeks into my ownership, and I still have my previous ICE SUV (for sale)... I feel like a complete Neanderthal driving an ICE SUV after driving the Macan EV.

Even without the EV launch, the ICE Macan sales were trending down. They were down 18% in 2024 compared to 2023. They're down another 30% in 2025, and probably will drop another 50% or more by this time in 2026.

Porsche could have sold 0 ICE Macans in 1H 2025 and the Macan EV on its own would still be Porsche's second-best-selling model. The ICE Macan on its own would be #4.

I don't know how much better it could reasonably be expected to do. In less than a year on the market, it has been delivered to 44,162 customers. The only other Porsche launch to do better than that...was the original Macan, which had sold about 55K over the same first 3 quarters. There's nothing disappointing in those numbers.

But that model started at $49,900 and was introduced as the first real compact performance SUV in a booming economy with much lower interest rates and none of the EV, supply chain, or tariff drama of the 2020s.

A recent Wired opinion piece discussing cheaper EVs includes:

..... sales of the seemingly much-anticipated electric Mercedes G-Class SUV have been poor. Actually, that’s an understatement. They’ve been woeful.

And it’s not the only e-flop from a legacy automaker: Just last week Ferrari announced that it is delaying its second EV model (the first will arrive in October) until at least 2028 because of weak demand. Porsche has cut back its plans for EVs amid soft sales of its electric Macan SUV and Taycan models. Indeed, depreciation on the Taycan is so eye-watering that some Porsche dealers have supposedly refused to take their own brand’s performance EV from owners looking to offload or upgrade.

Volkswagen’s luxury marques, including Porsche, Bentley, and Lamborghini, are reassessing their EV strategies. Porsche has scaled back plans for an all-electric lineup following a 49 percent decline in Taycan sales. Bentley has pushed back the launch of its first EV from this year to next, and extended its gas-engine phase-out deadline to 2035. Lamborghini has delayed its Lanzador EV until 2029 at the earliest.

... You can currently bag a three-year-old Porsche Taycan, with its 416 miles of range, for less than half what it cost new. Currently, there are 930 used Taycans for sale in the US on Auto Trader, with prices ranging from just $44,000 when a base model costs at least $100,000 new. A Taycan with just 11,000 miles on the clock can be had for $47,000.
