Hello ! First post , macan 4 ev , 14 months old…..no issues so far except recently this one on the sun roof , could be covered under warranty ?

Seems like the driver tried to pass below something without the adequate clearance and hit. Definitely not be covered under warranty IMO.Best bet an insurance compensation without any deductable amount for such a damage!

This was most likely caused by a bird, specifically a crow. Look it up on Google, crows are known to damage sunroof seals, particularly those surrounding highly reflective glass roofs. The damage looks just like that in your photos (I have seen it in the past) when it starts. Unfortunately, once they get a taste for it, crows often come back and add to the damage. I live in a rural part of the UK where there are a lot of crows and, for cars that will be kept outdoors, never order sunroofs for this reason.

The damage in your photo is to the outer seal and, therefore, will not allow water into your car. If I were you, I would leave it alone and see if the bird returns before spending money on replacing the damaged seal. Replacement is not difficult, but Porsche parts and labour costs make it a little expensive.

If it’s a mechanical failure and not glass breakage from a rock, the bumper-to-bumper warranty usually covers the motor and the track assembly. Get the service advisor to document the fault code before they try to blame external damage. I had a similar issue with a sticky seal and they fixed it without any pushback.

Funny thing happened to me in almost the same spot.

Could be birds who knows but the whole rubber part - you can feel it has deteriorated, it touch it's weathered/cracked after sun exposure.

One of the few advantages of being short I guess I can't see over my roof of mine, hope all is well.
From the photos it looks like very thin/soft rubber, doubt it will last the test of time.
After living with this Macan for nearly 2 years I can confirm the materials used are well below the quality of my Audi, everything is cheaply made, my Audi is over 15 years old and already showing less wear in certain places.
The only location where the Macan is better is the B pillar, the nasty piano black plastic holding out better due to the frameless windows the Audi lacks.

I believe that the quality of new Audi is completely different as it was years ago.

All the automotive industry needs to replace their legacy quality material & leather & fabrics with new more ecological friendly and lighter materials , but that comes with a less perceived quality.

I think there’s a number of products you can get to coat the rubber seal to help reduce the cracking and degradation of your rubber seal. usually called conditioners and protectors. I use the VRP product

Glad I decided to use my old ICE instead of my Macan for our summer vacation this year.Seems it wouldn't stand a chance under the Italian scorching sun down south in Puglia region with temps in the upper 30's or even low 40's some of the time

Not sure I totally agree. I completely wrote off the iX3 as I refuse to own a car with Veganza seats (not kidding this is what they call the leather-ette fabric).
