I'm having this applied to my car today, no notes on the changes made to it. I was at SQ4 earlier this month and it was a very BIG stability improvement for me.

If I can find notes to changes, I'll post them later. Currently dealer doesn't have any, and this site I normally go to also doesn't even have SQ5 listed yet.

Vehicle Detail Search - 2025 PORSCHE MACAN 4S ELECTRIC | NHTSA

Dealer confirmed my MY25 can have it applied.

This is what AI is reporting about the update
The Porsche Macan EV VR28.13 update is a major dealer-installed stability release. While "SQ%" likely refers to a specific sub-version (such as the recently released SQ4 or SQ5 variants), these iterative patches focus on fixing bugs, smoothing out regenerative braking, and addressing warning messages. [1, 2, 3, 4]

What the Update Includes
  • Bug Fixes: Designed to reduce phantom system failure warnings (especially for driver assistance systems) and resolve "charging door malfunction" errors. [1, 2]
  • Braking and Comfort: Users report a smoother transition between regenerative braking and physical brakes, alongside fixes for the rear cargo shelf rattle. [1]
  • Feature Limitations: It does not add major new hardware-dependent features like the Porsche Digital Phone Key or CarPlay Ultra. [1]

Potential Issues and New Updates
  • Glitches: Some users on platforms like the Macan EV Owners Forum have reported new minor bugs, such as Apple CarPlay crashes or disconnected devices. [, 2]
  • SQ Sub-Versions: Because the initial VR28.13 caused or left behind certain glitches, Porsche has been rolling out subsequent patch variants (like the SQ4 and SQ5 versions released in mid-2026) to address these lingering complaints. [1, 2]

@jonrblair the AI summary provided is not useful as it is very generic and is reframing a derivative of the base software version 28.13. This post was specifically to advise that SQ5 was available. The link I provided, while a USA NHTSB link, does in fact (approx. 2 weeks later) contain notes about these patch's and updates. I would advise that you monitor the link if you want to want to get into the specific things changed, when they are available.

I have found no better way currently to follow the change log of the updates currently. Either dealers don't know, or don't share, or are dis interested and just apply software when advised. It appears that many dealerships still don't realize that electric cars and their buyers are more interested and effected by the software levels. This is why we inquire and monitor them - this is why true OTA updates are always a conversation with EV buyers.

I appreciate the intent of your post, I also wanted to be clear for anyone else reading this, that the SQ5 update was available and they could act on it as per their interests.

@Flying4Fun did you have any chance yet to try the car with the update applied? Any news what changed?
its getting programmed with SQ5 as we speak, I hope to have the car returned later today as its a holiday here July 1st). SQ4 was a BIG improvement for me, so I am hopefulyl SQ5 progresses the same good direction.

I will advise on SQ5 as I get some time with it.

Not sure why anyone would want to be an early-adopter of any software update, especially if your vehicle is working well. I'd rather wait until additional experience was available regarding the pros/cons of the update.

@MKSZ51 I'm having Audio Issues, and hopeful that between the AMplifier replacement, and software update thats resolved. They want to do this, before replacing the PCM to solve it.

While I agree with your general feelings of 'why be first', I have some issues I still want to address. I drive a ton, and having Bluetooth, and audio working is a quality-of-life issue also (I want corrected).

And at this point, someone has go first :) I also feel since I leased this car, if its not stable by the time the lease ends, it's a clear decision what to do. I also only have a finite warranty window to address these issues as my KM' trigger will happen before the time trigger.... Hopefuly this adds some color to my adventurous nature towards jumping in early (not to mention the good will it buys me with this dealer as my feedback is used to inform there other clients not as patient with this sort of thing.

this is most likely not accurate as noted - I highly doubt the AI is trained on the phantom release notes for this specific release - I would humbly suggest this post be editted/removed as it's unlikely to be factual.

SQ4 is what also made my car perfect. I will be very hesitant to upgrade it to a newer software ss it can only get worse at this point.
But very curious what you have to tell about it.

The dealer just informed me that My cars update is delayed until Thursday, pickup end of day. (Its Canada day here Tomorrow). They indicated they were a little bit anxious about doing the update without a Sr. Tech doing the work... thus the delay. I'm afraid I'll have no updates as a result.

Mine is at workshop today for the software update. I hope to resolve the audio issues with bluetooth / carplay etc and with the park assist system (although I am not using it)

Too bad there is no campaign for these minor updates (SQ4 / SQ5).
There was for V28.13 but it was for the first revision of this software.
Once you have this the campaign is done.
You have to complain to your dealer to have these fixes applied.
