I also suspect that there was a small OTA update independent of the WSJ0 / vr28.13 update.

I was on a 3400 mile road trip last week and the car lost cellular connectivity while I was in a remote part of Utah. I assumed it was due to a lack of coverage by Verizon's cellular network (my AT&T cell phone still had a weak signal). I saw a message on the PCM that the hotspot wasn't available due to regional restrictions, followed by a message saying that the hotspot was being reconfigured, and then a message that it was available again.

Those are messages I had never seen before when losing the Verizon signal.

Interesting that others had problems and required PCM factory reset two resolve this issue.

CarPlay initiates the connection on bluetooth and then rapidly hands over to WiFi, hence functioning WiFi in the vehicle is essential.

For me, getting the Hotspot functioning (with a longer WiFi password set inside the PCM) completely resolved the issue and my CarPlay reconnecting automatically. Nothing in the PCM or iPhone needed resetting at all. Also no changes were required in iOS. It's worked flawlessly for a couple of days now so I'm hoping it will stay that way.

I just went out and tried both phones again (a day after the PCM reset) and CarPlay is working the way it used to on both of them. Note, one of them is on IOS 16, the other is on IOS 26, so the IOS doesn't seem to matter. For me, the only way to get this fixed was a factory reset of the PCM (and this was suggested by Porsche Technical Support).

I did NOT NEED TO RESET the PCM, just a new compliant password in the hotspot menu and CarPlay started working immediately …

We know the update is meant to improve 5G - is there any chance that this initially caused the issue ?
