Me Again,

I am still considering my spec and seeing if I can manage to get in a 4S instead of base model.

I was going to spec the 14 way seats. Has anyone got the standard 8 way seats and have any comments/opinions?

Thanks

Never compromise on the seats. 14- or 18-way adjustable is really what you want for optimal seating comfort.

We have 8 road seats, a great seat, we just got home from Sweden, after a 7 hour trip, without getting tired in them, they are so comfortable to sit in. I would rather spend that money on an extended leather package, I think like a washing machine with 102 programs, so in everyday life you only use 2 of them, but if you want these 14 or 18 seats then reward yourself, you get a great driving car under all circumstances

Yeah, don't compromise... but each of these seats fit different body build very differently. You will find many reports that 18 ways are tight and not comfortable, others love them. Some seat leather is harder than others, some break in better. I find I need to add a little pad to the 14 way bottom rear or my back suffers.

In other words, they are all good seats, you should audition them if you can. In general the more adjustments the more likely you will find a comfortable position, but there also seems to be shape differences between the seats.

Agreed.
Seating position is really important for me, and I tried all three options. The 8-way seemed fine, but I found the squab of the 18-way to be uncomfortable and restrictive. The 14-way was as comfortable as the 8-way, but of course with more options–so I chose that, and have been happy with it.

I have the 8-way seats and have not regret it. They are very comfortable and my body fits very well.
However, it is up to you how to spend your money

For the modest increase in price 14-way are better - remember that it's not just the extra seat adjustment that you are getting but also an electrically adjustable steering column and all features stored (seats, steering column, door mirrors) in Driver Memory (recalled automatically depending on which key you use (2 option - primary and secondary)).

18-way - personally I'm not a fan (I have them), 14-way is my normal default and in any Porsche these have always been good.

Money-grab options in the US:

Having ordered 3 new Porsches by now, and gotten burned by the "spec it the way you want" / 50% on options even though options have zero residual value thing- I am thinking of 8 way myself on the next one. I'm going to make a prioritized list of options I want, go down that list to what I'm willing to pay, and then start asking "do you want this? Or this?"

I have a normal BMI but find the 18 way seats too tight.
8 way seats are the same as 14 way, except for adjustments and memory for both front seats, right? But the standard driver's side does have seat memory. So in the US, I could skip the 14 way and get rear axle steering, or torque vectoring, or ??

Another "conventional wisdom" option (again, US), matrix design headlights. $1,700 or so. And that buys you a cornerling light. All the other functions are disabled in the US. So, that, or say a panoramic sunroof?

I know this is a contrarian point of view but I'd like to stop falling into the Porsche options pit.

I had a 3 month loaner, with 8-way, standard trim. I bought 14 way with leather. One thing the 8-way taught us, in UK, is that they trap heat, even with air con on, they were very warm, even 20 minutes later. So we added cooled seats. But in terms of comfort they are the same seat in terms of size. 14 way adds electric steering column adjustment.

I recently visited a dealer to view a Macan electric with my wife, and she found the 14-way seats 'pinched' too tight around the thigh/hip area putting pressure on her back (she suffers with back troubles). We didn't get a chance to test any of the other seats, however, the sales guy suggested the GTS, as that has race-tex seats, which might help - he said "softer than the leather options". That wasn't really what I wanted to hear.

I'm not sure, but this has put a big spanner in the works, misses very unsure that she'll be able to get comfortable 🤔!

However, reading the other comments above, there is no way I'm having a car like this without memory seats... not available on the standard 8-way, really?

I have the 8way, no complaints. The 18s look nice but maybe block the light into the rear. Also, the steering column is manually adjusted on the 8 way, electric on the 14, which maybe important if you share your car with your partner.

Phew, thanks for the clarifications, I panicked! However, I would also prefer electrically adjustable steering, as we would share this car.

We are all body-proportioned very differently so trying out seats for 20 minutes in each even on a dealership showroom is a minimum for me.
