Although I clicked the Porsche app where appropriate to receive OTA updates, I don’t think any have come (although I don’t know how we’d be notified). I connected my Macan to my home WiFi network and was wondering if this is how they might be delivered (although when the car if off the connection drops). Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance!

it’s done at a dealership while the car is plugged into an external 12v power supply and using a porsche pwiis service computer

OTAs for the infotainment system do occur (map updates, app updates, new apps) usually in the background via cell connection while driving and possibly via WiFi if the car is on. As an example, I have received updates for my Amazon Music app as well as new apps (Home Assistant, DAZN, some games, some European music stations).
Anything else requires a visit to the dealership for a complicated update protocol, more representative of last century’s computer programming, and connection to a PIWIS computer while power being supplied by an external 12v battery.

to be fair Porschde has advanced - their idea of OTA updates are a app notification or email telling you to take the car to the dealer for a 6 week software update that might brick the car causing more delay in the dealership getting you your vehicle back…

this _IS_ progress in that Porsche did not even used to admit there was software in their cars, or that it could be updated - and having a dealer process to update the software is "new" for Porsche…

so the OTA update _IS_ the noficiation on your phone that you need to schedule a service with your dealership and beg for a non-sucky loaner car for the 6 month update process…

so progress.
