Leather dash cleaning

Washos has serviced (wash/wax/detail) all my cars for many years, they have always done a terrific job, regardless of which technician they sent but recently a new technician used conditioner on my leather dash (without asking).
As you can see from the photo, part of the dash has a shine, whereas the upper right has the correct matte finish.

Reading through the forum, I came upon the recommendation of Lexol leather cleaner. I’ve ordered it and am ready to try cleaning but before I do (I’m paranoid about making things worse), I thought I’d reach out to the forum to get some feedback.

You could try a cloth damped with distilled water first. But that conditioner probably sunk into the pores and will need to be cleaned out. I don't like shinny leather either

OMG, that is my worst nightmare right there. I'd be furious if someone did that to my leather.

Wow..that's a Horror Movie...!! I always clean my leathers with a very light mixture of Water and Shampoo, 1-2 drops of Shampoo in fact in small container of water. Not sure if this is the best, but it was an advice from BMW engineer many years ago and it is still working perfectly in all my cars..

Thanks ColdCase and Philip_1, distilled water is working!
I used a micro fiber cloth, dampened with distilled water, scrubbed the area, then wiped dry with another cloth. The gloss is nearly gone, I'm going at it slowly and it looks like a second treatment will have it back to 100% matte.

I have called the professional detailer that added my exterior ceramic coating for cleaning suggestions. They also did a quick pass cleaning on my interior when it was in their shop (they also do interior coatings.) You could always call a similar company for a suggestion.

I have used Lexol leather cleaner lots over the years, and in my experience it cleans well and drys without leaving any sign it was used. I always follow up with a leather conditioner after dry, so I don't think you would have any issues if you used it. I try to use the least amount possible just to be safe. I hate when dealers put greasy looking stuff on my interior!!

I like Lexol. for 90% of the locations. Best smell of all to me. However I never use it on my dash top, for it can result in uneven shininess there. I too use distilled water and a clean microfiber on my dash top.
