Reading through this entire thread, i noticed those individuals that do not have this issue after the update appear to be in warmer locations? (Arizona, California, and saw some from UK) Any thoughts that this software issue is associated to the temp??
Its been about 10 F here for weeks and my updated 4S home charges fine. It always took longer than I'd expect to make the connection and start charging, but it may be several seconds longer now.

It definitely looks like a cold climate issue. I haven’t seen one post south of buffalo. i was at my dealer yesterday and i think they have quite a few with the same home charging issue. It seems to only affect some cars. Unfortunately I’m one.

I’m not sure whether this applies, but maybe…

Location-dependent charging settings in the Porsche Macan can interfere with home charging if not configured correctly
, often causing the car to delay charging or fail to start when plugged in at home.
Based on user experiences and Porsche guidance, the issues usually stem from conflicting schedules, software updates, or, more specifically,, an active departure timer.
Key Interference Factors & Fixes:
  • Active Departure Timers: If a departure time is set in your "home" profile, the car may wait to start charging until right before that time, rather than starting immediately when plugged in.
  • Failed Plug & Charge after Updates:Recent Porsche app updates have been known to deactivate Plug & Charge settings, causing home chargers to fail.
  • Incorrect Location Profile: The car may not properly recognize "Home" as the default location, or a "preferred charging time" (for off-peak rates) may be overriding your desire to charge immediately.
How to Resolve Home Charging Issues:
  1. Activate "Direct Charging": In the PCM (Porsche Communication Management) screen, go to the Charge menu and select "Direct Charging." This overrides any active timers or profiles and forces the car to start charging immediately.
  2. Check Location Settings: Ensure your home location is correctly set in the "Location-dependent charging" menu and that the profile matches your desired charging habits.
  3. Activate Compatibility Mode: If using a home charger that is not working with Plug & Charge, turn on "Compatibility Mode" in the PCM (Charging > Settings > Compatibility Mode).
  4. Use the Proper Port: Use the AC charging port (right side) for home charging.
  5. Check for "Red Light" Error: If you see a red LED in the charging socket, it means the plug is not locking properly. Listen for a click, or try unplugging and re-plugging.
If these methods do not work, it may be necessary to check for software updates or consult your dealership for a potential faulty cable or system update issue.
These options very helpful but couldn't resolve my issue. Tried everything.

My car charges at the dealership, my charger works at the dealership too but when I connect the charger at home, the charger lights 50% instead of 100% (picture attached). The dashboard says that it's not able to charge my car.

The car charges at the dealership with my charger and their infra and so they don't see any issue.

They recently replaced my charging port door which wasn't opening at all so now I can at least get my car charged outside.

It wasn't working previously either. They also just replaced the port's mechanical door.

Yep, I feel like these are more of Porsche issues than EV. Teslas and Kias of the world have figured it out.

That's an interesting idea. Is the ambient temperature in your garage cold? Anybody have a space heater in their garage to warm it up before charging?

My garage is heated, although I am in a cold climate the garage is at 10-14 degrees Celsius. Battery temp is around 12 degrees lately and it has been hit or miss to whether it charges at home. I actually had more success during our -30 degrees Celsius December having no trouble charging. As mentioned earlier my problems began just two weeks ago even though my car came in November with the patch installed.

I am now purchasing a brand new charger either from Tesla or ChargePoint. Hopefully it's just my charger.

I think you'll find reports scattered in this or another thread that the EVSE doesn't mater. The dumbest EVSEs have the fewest issues, however.

I tried mine on a Tesla home charger at a different location and it doesn’t work there either.
If it’s like mine it won’t be your charger. I have three different chargers at home and same result. Whatever charge you purchase I would make sure it can be returned unless you need a spare. I have an Emporia/Porsche L2 chargers and a Levor L1 charger. Same results across all of them when my car is rejecting the charge. For now I set a departure in the future, let the car LED go blue, and then click direct charging on the app and 75 percent of time that is kicking off the charge at home.

Direct charging doesn't work for me. My charger worked at the dealership.

This (buying a new charger) is probably the only thing I can do at this stage. Out of options really.

Mine worked at the dealership also. It’s a software problem, not your hardware. I can’t believe your dealership doesn’t know this.

PTSD flash backs to Taycan forum issues with charging…

Porsche + software + EVSE(s) + scheduling = FAIL  and a clueless service network is just so so so bad…

Porsche is in trouble (and not just because of this) but they seem incapable of dealing with software faults - they always blame the hardware since that's their history…

they simple don't understand software and the institution doesn't know how to handle a problem that can't be fixed by swapping a component (like blaming the Tesla EVSE - which honestly like any EVSE is simply an on/off switch allowing raw AC power to flow or not flow - NOTE: the car controls the AC power flow _NOT_ the EVSE - sigh)

I'm holding off getting my 2024 Macan Turbo updates until I see how this plays out.

Just to ask for clarity, you have tried the scheduled departure let's say 24 hours in advance and had the app/car reach the charging paused status on the app (or blue light on the car's interior LEDs?). When scheduling a departure you aren't clicking the direct charging at that time, but are waiting for the car to stabilize to it's "status paused" state.

My guess is you have tried everything, just trying to write down more information to help our dealer work things through. Unfortunately I appear to be the only one that our dealer has seen this problem.
