I’m not sure whether this applies, but maybe…
Location-dependent charging settings in the Porsche Macan can interfere with home charging if not configured correctly
, often causing the car to delay charging or fail to start when plugged in at home.
Based on user experiences and Porsche guidance, the issues usually stem from conflicting schedules, software updates, or, more specifically,, an active departure timer.

Based on user experiences and Porsche guidance, the issues usually stem from conflicting schedules, software updates, or, more specifically,, an active departure timer.
Key Interference Factors & Fixes:
- Active Departure Timers: If a departure time is set in your "home" profile, the car may wait to start charging until right before that time, rather than starting immediately when plugged in.
- Failed Plug & Charge after Updates:Recent Porsche app updates have been known to deactivate Plug & Charge settings, causing home chargers to fail.
- Incorrect Location Profile: The car may not properly recognize "Home" as the default location, or a "preferred charging time" (for off-peak rates) may be overriding your desire to charge immediately.
- Activate "Direct Charging": In the PCM (Porsche Communication Management) screen, go to the Charge menu and select "Direct Charging." This overrides any active timers or profiles and forces the car to start charging immediately.
- Check Location Settings: Ensure your home location is correctly set in the "Location-dependent charging" menu and that the profile matches your desired charging habits.
- Activate Compatibility Mode: If using a home charger that is not working with Plug & Charge, turn on "Compatibility Mode" in the PCM (Charging > Settings > Compatibility Mode).
- Use the Proper Port: Use the AC charging port (right side) for home charging.
- Check for "Red Light" Error: If you see a red LED in the charging socket, it means the plug is not locking properly. Listen for a click, or try unplugging and re-plugging.
