Got a call from my dealer (Porsche North Scottsdale) yesterday that on Monday I can call service to order my complementary NACAS adaptor, and that Porsche access will follow in a week. Didn’t post immediately as I figured I would be the 3,621st to do so.
Great news as this increases the number of chargers on any road trip dramatically! EA still has some of the burliest charges out there, but when I had the Other Car, it sure was convenient!
Anyone else here this? Hope I’m not being punked!

I just checked, Macan Electric is now an option in the Tesla app when you add a vehicle! It wasn't just the other day...
agreed - but still only showing magicdock locations for charging -but progress!

It became an option after Tesla’s update yesterday. @daveo4EV, I think it’s showing all the superchargers not just magic-dock…

I take it back. You are right. The map is showing lots of destination chargers and superchargers with magic-dock. But it’s progress. If @EvSwimmers info is correct, all the superchargers should be available in a week or so.
I doubt I’ll get the adapter for free as it’s been six months since I received the car and my dealership didn’t feel that “generous”. Will see how they price their adapter. It looks like they just licensed Lectron’s adapter and added their name!

Hi to All

Thanks for Sharing.

I will check with my Dealer Gold Coast Porsche in NY and revert.

Separately and on a related note, the parking garage in the building I work in (Brookfield Place, Battery Park across from the 9/11 Memorial in Downtown Manhattan) swapped out the chargers from AmpUp charging network to Tesla.

I’ve not signed up yet but the attendants showed me that the actual nozzles / plugs have a built in button when grabbing the handle from the cradle. In a Tesla you just pull it and plug it into the car. For all others including Porsches there’s a latch that decouples the plus nozzle leaving the “Tesla” plug in the unit and the handle (now ~50% of the total handle) has the exact charger connection we and other brands need/use. Hence NO adaptor is required for me to use that charger!!!!

I’ll try to get the name of the charging network and other helpful insights to share after 2/Sept when I’ll be back in the NYC office in case helpful to fellow Porsche EV colleagues should this charging network have stations in other cities too.

Thanks.

We purchased the Lectron adapter for our Mercedes through the dealer…$400, same unit through Amazon was $200. I’m sure the Porsche model will be at least that much. The only difference between the two was the adapter from the dealer had a “Certified for Mercedes” sticker on the unit and the box. Unfortunately, the dealer fine print on the receipt stated they wouldn’t refund electrical component purchases.

Our local Porsche dealer told me last week not to expect the adapter until the end of the year, but this is in NM. Having said that, we used the adapter with our Mercedes on a 2,000 road trip, and for the most part it was seemless plug and charge. There are still Tesla chargers that are only accessible to Teslas. The PlugShare app will state if a selected charger is compatible with non-Teslas.

I've got my Ford adapter, and it does fit inside the Macan charge port opening. I'll have to give it a test.

I'm guessing Plug & Charge won't work right away. I assume a certificate will have to be loaded in our Porsche accounts first, which could take some time.

An interesting thing happened to me last week that I thought might help others.
I decided to try to charge my brand new Macan EV at a supercharger site that's not equipped with magic dock using the nacs adapter we have for my wife's Volvo XC40 Recharge. It didn't work.
My wife was traveling the best day and stopped at a site with magic dock and it wouldn't charge!
A couple of days later I tried charging her car at the same non-magic dock charger I had tried and it still didn't work.
I created another Tesla account and it worked with that!
I figured they flagged my original account, except that I stopped the charge and switched back to the original account and it worked fine.
I have no idea what really happened, but I was able to charge my Macan with magic dock yesterday using the original account so it seems that everything is back to normal.

Hi to All

while awaiting Porsche to debug Taycans and test the Macan EV I factory ordered a Ford Mach E All Wheel drive plus extended battery (320-340 mi range). Drove it 2 years & 29.5k mis. Not one single blemish or issue. Flawless OTA Software updates. I bought and installed the factory OEM home charger and had it professionally installed.

I have used it flawlessly since the 1st day I came home with the Macan 4 EV.

Porsche’s 12 month 30 mins/day free charging on EA charging stations since extended through ChargePoint, the chargepoint station in my apartment building also worked immediately but the sign up with Porsche on my App hasn’t linked properly for free charging. I pay for my Chargepoint charges.

chargepoint was never "included/free" -just billed via Porsche charging service - it was never meant to be…

sounds like the parking garage has installed Tesla Universal Wall Chargers - they come with built-in adapters and can provide J-1772 or NACS EV's with charging…

https://shop.tesla.com/product/universal-wall-connector

I own 3 of them for my home and routinely charge my son's Tesla, my Macan, my Cayenne, and other friends/familiy eV's and hybrids…

the built in adapter is nifty…

the thread listed below will give you an overview of the adapters any EV owner can benefit from owning…

https://www.macanevowners.com/forum/threads/faq-dont-overthink-the-nacs-native-port-transition…because-it-doesnt-matter.16867/

and this thread covers how/why adapter "work"

you beat me to it!!!! but yeah none of those are "superchargers" - just Tesla Destination chargers which can be used with a TeslaTap or similar.

but this is progress - and non-MagicDock superchargers will be shown here in the Tesla app when Porsche is an official NACS partner - hopefully soon!!
