I’ve always been torn between the 21” Macan design wheels and the 22” RS wheels. I plumped for the 21” in the end and still love the look of them in the spec I have, a year after taking ownership.

I opted for the 21’s as I feel they suit the modern design of the car better than the RS wheels which look better on the more ‘traditional’ looking Porsches.

But as ever with me, I want to know if the grass is greener and am tempted to buy the 22” wheels. I’m hoping someone can talk me out of it!

I have the 22" RS Spyder wheels. When making my wheel choice I valued appearance more than ride comfort, for which a 21" wheel would be better. Porsche offers a 21" RS Spyder for the Cayenne EV -- they should bring it to the Macan EV as well, it would have been my choice.

On a side note, I had a 2025 ICE Macan T as a loaner for two weeks, and it rode on 21" wheels, albeit with steel springs instead of the air suspension the Macan EV gets. The ride in the Macan T was significantly less comfortable than in my car despite the taller sidewall of the tires on the 21" wheel.

It’s good to know that the ride quality is still there on the 22’s. As I have air suspension as well.

Though I assumed this might be the case as the side wall on the 21’s is by no means tall either. They do fill the arches nicely, especially when in the ‘low’ setting, looks wise for me this is more about getting the red callipers on show, so also got my eye on the Macan Sport wheels.

With 22” Sport Wheels , the ride quality is good for me! Here’s a pic in lift mode to get in my driveway!

Wow they do look good, thanks for sharing, as you don’t see many real life pics with these wheels on.

Have you had your plastic trim painted? Or is that an option you can select now?

RS Spyder 22” all day everyday baby ! No doubt about it. Looks over range. My god they are so beautiful.

The black looks great against the grey. I think I’d stick with the chrome against black. Also seeing those red callipers pop through is exactly what I’m trying to achieve.

My Macan GTS was my stealth car! I do wish they’d do similar to the old Turbo style wheels from the ICE model for the EV. I’ve never loved a set of wheels more

I have had no issues with rude quality orange. I’m sure both would improve with a smaller wheel - but I chose form over function, haha. I chose my RS Spyder wheels painted in Turbonite to match trim, etc. on my Macan.

Don’t be afraid to go with the larger wheels. I’d say they ride quietly in their own right - but note that I’m in California and there are relatively good roads where I drive. YMMV.

Went for the ’22 Spyders.
That moment you park, start walking away, and can’t help but look back… still doing it a month in, every single time…

I went for the design wheels which are a closed/aero/ev design. This is my 3rd EV and have gone closed design in all, now that I am older as well.
Closed diamond cut black wheels are my preference, I only have to clean the outside and the silver means the alloys don’t look like steelies from a distance.

Those RS Spyders give me nightmares just by looking at them, they look very similar to the 20” “RS4” wheels I had on my Audi which were an absolute PITA (back/knees to be exact) to keep clean. Ok they were silver, black is a million times easier but nothing beats closed design for ease of cleaning. Sure the inside is caked in brown layers of brake dust/rust/mud/etc. but what I can’t see doesn’t bother me.

If have RS Spyders in Turbonite, and because the Macan EV uses regenerative braking most of the time the wheels don’t collect all of the brake dust that they would with an ICE car. The wheels stay remarkably clean.

I still have IronX from my previous car but it really isn’t needed. Don’t be scared by the relatively intricate design.

You’re completely right with all of this, even without the brake dust complication, I live in an area full of muddy roads.

I definitely wouldn’t get full black wheels on a black car either. I’ve been there and done that and appreciate a bit of chrome/silver diamond cut on the wheels nowadays. As I don’t like chrome anywhere else.

I found myself with all the driving around this Christmas continuing to look back at the car when I park up and admiring the wheels as part of that look back. The design wheels really are a lovely wheel, maybe I do just need to enjoy the spec I’ve got - we unfortunately can’t have them all and most of the wheel options are great.
