I’ve been following this thread in the hope we would all get a positive reply.

With this note am confirming my Dealership said two things:
- official Porsche Tesla charging adapter will be coming “shortly”
- we can buy adpators on Amazon already which will surely cost less $200/unit compared to Porsche branded plug which may come in As high As $500 just because of the brand logo on it…

I then down loaded the Tesla App onto my iPhone and saved it with the various EV charging companies I use outside of EA superchargers when they are available.

When I accessed the Tesla charging homesite they noted still Tesla is still lending a few brands including the entire VW Group naming specifically Porsche, Audi etc. in contrast BMW and Mercedes are already approved user brands. Ouch.

Finally I went to Amazon and found d multiple chargers with 2 brands raniko g highest being those mentioned by our colleague in this thread.

However, I’m a chicken as I didn’t proceed due to the Tesla main site carrying a “warning notice” that off brand charging adaptors won’t be allowed, advising non Tesla customers to use the authorized OEM brand adaptor.

in sum, I chickened out and didn’t buy a charger to try it.

having had early post delivery software issues requiring multiple dealer visits as the car now has traveled 10k trouble free miles I’m going to await the expensive Porsche adaptor fo avoid triggering something only to be told “I knew better” given the Tesla network warning.

Luckily I don’t need to go on long distance road trips as I have ICE vehicles at home for those.

At most for me it’s 240mile R/T between homes assuming I don’t charge in between.

FYI yesterday I left the tip of Long Islabd to JFK to drop off daughters for flights etc.

Left home with 415mi 100% charge.

I ran Aircon, stereo with 2 iPhones tethered chanting and drive 70mph for about 175miles and drive 240 miles including making various stops in return leg. I had 150mi range left.

consistent with comments from many colleagues, as I changed from non AirCon to AirCon and drove 4 passengers plus heavy luggage and higher speeds than my usual solo commutes I was amazed the remaining charge wasn’t lower.

no surprise this morning a full charge is ~390 mi range down 25mis from prior stats.

computer must be predicting my driving style has changed and hence I’ll have 35mi lower range until I revert back to prior style.

Electrek just released an article about Porsche providing NACS adapters now/soon. It's free for 2025+ Porsche EVs but us early adopters (2024) will have to pay $185 US. I will reach out to my dealer in Canada to see if he has more details, and will push to get it for free. It should be considered compensation for all the issues I had in the first 2-3 months of ownership!

Well, it does seem that my advisor at PofNS had the right information, but jumped the gun by a full month! Glad it is here (well, next week), the adaptor is at no charge, and that soon enough we can do plug and charge through the Porsche app. Also nice that route planning can be done through nav by end of year- though like any software project from any company in the world, I'm sure the check is in the mail, and they'll still respect us in the morning, too.

I know out west, tis will definitely make road trips so much easier. Will take the planning and worry out of hitting the road.

Thanks! I stand corrected (regarding Macan EV 2024 models). From the link:

" Going forward, all new model year 2026 Porsche Taycan and Macan Electric models will include Porsche NACS DC adapter at no additional fee. Model year 2025 Taycan owners and all existing Macan Electric owners are eligible for a complimentary adapter. This group of owners will receive notification via their My Porsche app to reserve their free Porsche NACS DC adapter shortly."

Access to the Tesla Supercharger network will be possible though Porsche-supplied NACS DC adapter being made available to Porsche customers. At this soft launch stage, Porsche customers will utilize the Tesla app to enable charging. Charging through the My Porsche app and plug-and-charge is expected to follow in the coming months.

Charge Planning Software

All model year 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric variants will come with the necessary navigation features to incorporate the location of additional chargers. Model year 2024 and 2025 Macan Electric models will receive this software update before the end of the year, while model year 2025 and earlier Taycan variants will receive their upgrade thereafter. All charge-planning software updates will be complimentary.

This is a game changer regarding putting a dent in range anxiety concerns and purchasing decisions, IMO.
