We have it easy in the EU, most Tesla chargers (that I have seen) are CCS2. Just pull up and charge. The part that sucks is their congestion fees; oftentimes you have to drop everything and "Run, Forest, run!" once you hit 80%.

Today, I used my new adapter for the first time and had a successful charging session in Durango, CO at a new Tesla station. I even used “plug and charge” successfully which I have never been able to use at EA. Very happy!
Cool. Good to hear. What did you have to do to make plug and charge happen? Did you download the Tesla App and create an account with a credit card on file? Or did you have to do anything with the porsche app to tee it up for plug and charge. Plug and charge is such a game changer for me. fyi - I used plug and charge all the time on EA. Both in my hometown and on the road. It's very reliable.

Porsche Charging Service (PCS) is all you need for plug&charge to work at North American Tesla Superchargers … PCS is setup via myPorsche app for your vehicle - you can have a Tesla app setup as well but it's only for backup purposes as an alternative method for starting a charging session should myPorsche app for some reason not start a charging session…

NOTE: if plug&charge is not working you then have the option of using the Porsche app or the Tesla app to start the charging sessions - having done this process with both app's I will suggest the Tesla app is fewer steps and a little more straight forward - but only if you already have it setup with your account & billing information…but once plug&charge is not working and your going down the path of app based activation it's 6 of 1 half dozen the other as to which app you're using to start the session…

these are the methods for starting a charging session in North America at Tesla Superchargers
  • myPorsche app - plug&charge - requires billing w/Porsche charging service
  • myPorsche app - taping "start charge" in app - requires billing w/Porsche charging service
  • Tesla app - use the Tesla app to start a charging session w/Tesla account + billing information
  • tap to pay using credit card payment @ the supercharger stall via the small LCD screen on the charging stall - V4 Tesla supercharger's _ONLY_ - V3 superchargers have no Point-of-Sale screen
plug & charge should work 99% of the time - the other 3 methods are alternatives should plug&charge not work - all the app based and plug&charge methods require you have an account and billing information already configured in the associated application…

Helpful thanks. Sounds like if I have plug and charge set up for EA, with a PCS account set up, I might just be able to pull up to Tesla and start charging. Will give it a swing! There is one in my neighborhood. That would be great. I generally do not plan to use TSLA but good to have as a backup. Thanks.

yes if plug&charge works at EA it's very very likely it will also "just work" at appropriate Tesla Superchargers … not that the two networks use the same technology but rather than Porsche already knowns how to bill you!!! LOL

not _ALL_ North American Tesla Superchargers allow non-Tesla's to charge at them - they must be V3/V4 stations - the rule of thumb is if the station's location is listed in the myPorsche app (charging map) or in the PCM Navigation it's 99% certain to function for non-Tesla's…

if your local Tesla Supercharger is NOT shown to you in the PCM navigation it's likely an Urban/V2 Supercharger which do not support non-Tesla's (of any kind regardless of vehicle vendor - urban/V2 stations are Tesla _ONLY_)…

why the "hedge" on 99% certain - data error in the database that may or may not be present…

there are approximately 35,000 Tesla Supercharger stalls in North America
25,000 of them are V3/V4 superchargers that support non-Tesla's charging there - the remain 10,000 stalls are Tesla ONLY and are typically Urban (72 kW max) and V2 superchargers…

over 90% of new Tesla sites not yet built are planned to be V3 or V4 superchargers - so the growth is inclusive for all EV's…but there are some existing supercharger sites that will only support non-Tesla's if Tesla chooses to update them to newer hardware in the future.

there are a few (10 or less?) V4 sites that happen to be Tesla only…I don't know what criteria Tesla uses to make a V4 site Tesla only - but they do exist - one site I'd love to try out is local to my area - and supposedly supports 800V charging - which means a Macan would not be limited to the 150 kW or less if allowed to charge there - but these sites are "test" sites so Tesla is restricting their use…

the best source for what Tesla Supercharger's are open to you as a Porsche victim/customer is the myPorsche app charging map or the PCM navigation map with charger's being shown…if a Tesla site is listed on either of those two maps it's likely you'll be able to charge there with no issue.

my $0.02 YMMV
