Porsche does not offer the option of starting preconditioning manually. As with all aspects of charging planning, the company believes that the Macan can handle this optimally on its own. Especially to balance energy consumption for preconditioning.

Porsche fundamentally believes that extensive preconditioning of the battery is not necessary in everyday use. The potential energy consumption is not in acceptable proportion to the gain in charging speed and range. This is, of course, within certain limits, which are much wider than the "ideal temp range".

The ideal temperature for a Porsche Macan's battery is around 30−35C (86-95 F)

for optimal charging, though the system will manage temperatures outside this range. The car's thermal management system automatically heats or cools the battery to keep it within the ideal operating window, and the Porsche Charging Planner can pre-condition the battery before it reaches a fast-charging station.

Automated pre-conditioning: Use the Porsche Charging Planner (found in the Porsche Charging Planner and My Porsche app) to ensure the battery is at the right temperature before you arrive at a fast-charging station

(Tycan has now been integrated with Apple Maps, and charging planning is also possible with this app).

Vehicles with "sport plus" mode will attempt to reach the optimum battery temperature immediately after switching on sport plus.

This is key, solves most problems and actually works very well in me experience.

Fast charging the battery any other way will be way less then optimal and in extreme weather conditions will add a lot of time to your charging stops.

Not to be dense, but does this need to be in the actual planner, or can you simply select the charging station in the navigation screen and directly drive there?

In sports+ mode I've never noticed any warming, eg if the battery is at 0c, after 10min in sports+ it may be 1c.

I don't think it works like that, you can't select a charger as the destination.

Will double check, but 99% sure you can...open the navigation, select the fuel icon, and then select the charger as the destination

Yes, you absolutely can set a charging station as a destination.
Question is - can you set it as a charging stop (which will trigger the calculation of how much time to charge and should trigger preconditioning). Charging stops have a distinct icon on you route planner wich extra options and if you select it as a destination you cannot change charging parameters for this stop.

Do I understand correctly that in the Taycan, if you use Apple Maps the battery is also being pre conditioned?

For the rest I agree you should use the cars build in Nav or the App, it works great in getting the optimal travel / charge time an makes sure the battery is conditioned so you get the optimal charging speed.

Furthermore I have noticed that for me the planner always tries to keep the charging stops around 12 minutes on average, which I find great.

One question, is there a way to not stop charging when on a long trip and you should only stop for 10 minutes, but you stay longer? I now quit the current navigation … but there should be a better way … did not look for it yet but hope there is a way

Your post is entirely accurate except for the use of the word "ensure" in the sentence above.

Pre-conditioning only helps get the battery to temperature, and will only trigger if the battery temperature is under 20C, which is in ambient temperatures under 5C. It cannot close a gap greater than 10C.

1.) of course you can influence charging stops by adjusting minimal charge at target and minimum charge at charging stop.

2.) in case that the charging planner gives you a 10 min stop to charge to 40% at a given charger and you decide to charge to let us say 80%. You just delete the charging stop as soon you are there in this case the car will charge to the maximal capacity you have set up. (of course you can stop this at any time). You are absolutely right that this is not a good solution. We should be able to adjust this via app. I heard that porsche is working on this...

4.) apple, waze and google: they do not (and this is not porsches fault) consider weather, traffic and topography on your route. So it is best to use porsche navigation. I like waze. The solution is to use poresche navigation in the HUD and Waze on the main screen (without route planing). I still get all the interesting information only waze provides including acoustic warnings.

3.) no preconditioning with apple:

Apple Maps EV Routing isn't even available for the Macan EV.
never said it was
