Porsche integrates Google services in two main ways: through Android Auto projection or by embedding native Google Automotive Services directly into the vehicle's infotainment system.

NAVTEQ (now operating as HERE Technologies HERE Technologies) is the foundational map and routing provider historically used for Porsche Communication Management (PCM) systems. While modern Porsches use over-the-air updates or Google services Google Navigation in Ihrem Porsche, older models rely on NAVTEQ map data via CDs, DVDs, or SD cards Software Navigation PCCM/PCCM Plus (Europa).

That says it plans to start production "in the middle of the decade." There's no evidence that rollout has begun yet. So this still governs: https://www.tomtom.com/newsroom/pre...olkswagen-group-awards-global-deal-to-tomtom/

Please believe whatever you want. I know what I'm writing is correct. The Porsche nav wants me to drive through an unpaved, wooded path at the end of my street...which is surrounded by a fence. Only TomTom does this. Google Maps knows that the street does not continue there.

why has everything to be so tiresome? this is (like everything in the world) no question of „believing“. (and we are past the „middle of this decade“ btw,)

The Porsche Macan EV uses the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system powered by an Android Automotive OS. It integrates native Google Maps for mapping and features a specialized Porsche Charging Planner to route and pre-condition the battery for fast-charging stops.

but waze is owned by google and it uses native google maps and jet it offers completely different routes then google. the fact that porsche nav offers different routes has nothing to do with the source of its data.

you may not like how porsche handles googles data. that is a matter of taste.

I hear you. And I know what year it is…but what you shared was a press release. I’ll share the actual nav copyright page, from the PCM, which says TomTom provides Navigation services.

I agree with you that there is a Google integration with MAPPING. Can we agree that mapping and navigation are separate things? I hope so.

Please explain why the Porsche routing, which clearly is not using an “optimized route” for charging purposes, wants me to go through a walking path? While Google understands where the actual roads are? And…TomTom is literally the only navigation (again, NOT MAPPING) provider that makes this mistake in 2026. Google literally never routed this way, from the day Google Maps was introduced.

This only matters because the topic here is navigation…not mapping.

It clearly shows that the image is copyrighted by Airbus, they sell aerial imagery. The road information is copyrighted by Google.

Neither company is responsible for the navigation, that is a separate function and seems to be handled by TomTom.
no. question to ai: does porsche ppe use tomtom?

„No, Porsche vehicles built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) (such as the all-electric Macan) do not use TomTom for their native navigation. [1]
Instead, Porsche utilizes an infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS with deep, built-in Google services for its navigation and voice commands. [1, 2, 3]
Here is how the navigation setup works for Porsche's PPE platform:
  • Native Google Ecosystem: The native navigation utilizes built-in Google Maps rather than TomTom software. [1, 2]
  • Custom Porsche UI: While it runs on Android Automotive, Porsche custom-programmed the user interface so that it retains the familiar look and feel of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). [1, 2]
  • EV-Specific Routing: The built-in navigation is deeply integrated with the vehicle's battery management, allowing for smart charging stop planning and battery pre-conditioning when you set a route to a charger. [1, 2]
  • Projection Services: If you prefer not to use the native Google integration, you can also use smartphone projection maps via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. [1, 2, 3]“
why is every topic no matter how proven such a big controversy here? it might be ok that someone shows a picture of a navigation that is clearly not the porsche navigation. (like @jergans did). but that others agree although they claim to own and drive this car is beyond me!

Does the Porsche Macan electric use TomTom maps or directions?

AI Overview
The all-electric Porsche Macan uses Google Maps natively for its mapping and satellite displays, while utilizing TomTom data for live traffic and certain route calculations. [1, 2]

The native Porsche Communication Management (PCM) features advanced integration, but it operates as a hybrid system: [1]
  • Maps & Visuals: The foundational maps and satellite imagery are powered by Google. [1]
  • Traffic & Routing: The vehicle uses TomTom (along with historical partner HERE) for live traffic data, EV charging station routing, and hazard calculations. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

there is absolutely no difference between google and porsche nav. do you really believe that porsche has their own navigation system?
100% wrong, the navigation via the porsche is terrible compared to google maps.

Are you joking right now? The nav picture I sent is from the Porsche app, where I planned a route. If you'd like, I can do it directly in the car...will you admit defeat then?

I've also provided a screenshot from the car itself, showing that it's TomTom nav. Yet you persist in providing a cut and paste job of inaccurate information from Google or AI services. Look, I'd LOVE the nav to be Google routing. it's just not. I've provided evidence that you're ignoring.

the screenshot from „your car“ (the first picture that supposedly shows how bad the porsche nav is) does not show the porsche navigation. at least not the one i have in two ppe cars i own. could it be we get google (us brand) in europe and you get navteq/tomtom (European brands) in the us ?

and yes. send a picture like the one i provided. where we can see the whole screen and your porsche navigation without google branding.

To start with, as I said, the first screenshot in my post above was from the My Porsche app, which uses the exact same routing as in car. But here we go. Three screenshots, two from the car, showing the route. And for sanity sake, a picture of the “road” that the in car nav wants me to take. Now it makes sense why the Google Maps screenshot I provided shows a different route. Once again….Porsche is not using google navigstion! Only a mapping overlay.
