Best tyres for wear (comp)

When my tyres eventually wear out I will be looking for replacements.
If you got more than 30K km out of your summer tyres please state kms / tyre / rim size / macan model like:

I looked at them yesterday and I'm not sure I'll be getting to 20K miles

I had a puncture repaired the other day, the technician said another Macan ev driver had their tyres replaced at 9000miles and they were bald. It's not looking good

I have 24k km on my Macan 4 original 20” Bridgestone Potenza summer tires. Some of these kms were on winter tires (probably 4k). Still have about 50% left

For my Taycan 4S on 20”
I had used Continental ProContact RX and I had 23k mi or 37k km on two sets since I started tracking. I had put over 100k miles on that car and went though many sets of tires. Replaced when lowest was 4/32”.
Macan 4 coming April 10th.

Thanks guys & gals for your input although not a single valid entry yet, several hypotheses:
1) Macan has so little tyre wear that deliveries in 2024 are still on the original set irrespective of mileage
2) Macan has so much tyre wear that anything over 30K km is a distant dream/science fiction
3) Users can't be bothered to post

Would be interesting to hear what the legal/recommended minimum tread depth is in different countries/areas.

In Finland the legal minimum depth for summer tires is 1.6mm. The recommended minimum is 4mm to minimize the risk of aquaplaning.

I have 22" Bridgestones and think that I have to replace the tires during the coming summer. For me safety goes before money, so will replace them once ca 3mm tread depth is reached. Odometer shows 18489km today. And 5-6 months of the year we use winter tires here.

Of course the tarmac used in Finland is very coarse to make it last a bit longer with the use of studder tires in the winter. Luckily studless tires are getting more and more popular.

Well. A set of GY Eagle F1 supersport in 22” was quoted 2700€ incl. the work today.

Takes a piece off the fun, as the Macan 4 is not a performance car.

Early December ‘24 delivery Macan 4, Pirelli 20”, 18,200 miles, with still about 1 mm remaining above the rear tire wear bars (1.6 + 1 = 2.6 mm remaining). Most of my starts from stop are adequately aggressive, but also lots of highway driving.

But, a counter-point:

Early June ‘25 Macan 4 (date of CPO purchase), Continental 22”, 7,900 miles on rear tires, with only about 2 mm remaining above the wear bars (1.6 + 2 = 3.6 mm). Wife drives this Macan without any rapid acceleration (but the original owner, who knows what he did in the first couple of thousand miles?). Still, based on the way she drives, she might make 20k! 🥱

Front tires on both are in better condition.

Will be moving to Michelins eventually (I used to work there long ago).

Yeah, I'd rather have my fun in my topless rwd manual NA flat 6 2-seater Porsche that's 1.1T lighter and use the 2.5T Macan SUV for more mundane tasks.

Sure you can destroy a brand new set of tyres in 5min if you are so inclined, that's besides the point.

Point is, driving a same size ICE SUV I am able to get 50K km out of the tyres not once, but 6 times in a row irrespective of brand/model fitted.
Judging by the way the Macan wears the tyres there is no way I'll make it to 30K km.
This is pretty sad as the manufacturers obviously produce the tyres to favor EV range as this is all the rage about, but to the detriment of wear.

I believe once EVs cross into the real world 800 km range people will stop crying about range and shift their focus on the tyre wear forcing the manufacturers to put more priority on wear and less on mileage/grip. Don't worry folk you'll be always able to buy tyres with F1 levels of grip and wear for your suv.

I thought we had a winner until I took the calculator out, nevertheless once you cross the 30K km you are eligible for the win as I do not see any other entrants fighting for the win any time soon.
