I'm new to Porsche and considering a new Macan EV. Porsche Hatfield is my nearest dealer, they get 4.2 out of 561 reviews, many people appear to be very pleased with their interactions, but a few say go elsewhere. From Google, I see most dealers score about 4.2-4.5, which is in fact higher than the BMW dealers I've been using. Og course, Google reviews are just one yardstick, so I ask here for experiences and anything specific I should expect/consider.

Any info appreciated.

Have you driven a Macan? It appears from your two recent threads that you are really focused on costs of the "experience" and less on the experience. Having owned both there is one thing I can say for certain - a BMW will never drive like a Porsche. I am now on my second Macan (first was ICE, current is EV). I've owned a Porsche Cayman and 911 coupe in the past - currently own a new 911 Targa. Previously driven BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus, etc. For the rest of my life I will own Porsche - nothing else drives like a Porsche. Reviews are 1 part of the assessment - but you need to consider what people "value" when they create the review and how much they actually do know about vehicles to actually grade what they have. Go drive the vehicle.

I highly recommend Porsche Tewkesbury and Colchester from who I’ve bought Macan EV and 911 Turbo S in last couple of years - customer service at Silverstone and Reading has been great but sadly my local dealer has not got a clue, pushy false sales people, including the boss - great service guys but no slots and no loan cars !!

Not driven yet, just collecting information to gain a better understanding of. I’ve probably conveyed I want cheap, but that’s not it at all. I will drop £90k on a new car that meets my needs, and that I feel valued for too. I don’t like being shafted, just because, but happy to cover the right costs. When I saw £1500 for a 2y service on an EV, my reaction was that’s gouging beyond what I will accept. I remain optimistic that I misunderstood things, given others have suggested £500 for the same service. Not cheap, but much more acceptable.

I have nothing but praise for Colchester. Everyone there is very helpful and courteous. James sold me the car and Josie in service both provide excellent service. Unfortunately, too far away from Herts.
As proof that Colchester has a well earned great reputation - recently James May bought his 911 from them rather than a London dealer not far from his home. James delivered it to him - I have seen the selfies.

Interesting- I bought my 992.1 Turbo S from them in September 2023 and px my 21 Targa 4S - absolutely fabulous customer service @porschecolchester and I reckon I saved well over £20k over my local dealer 200 miles away.
again - my local dealer again failed to deliver proper customer service when my patience with my second Taycan gave up - their dealer in Tewkesbury 60+ miles away were excellent. I do not intend visiting Porsche Bristol until there is a change in leadership . I know this may sound harsh but even if I’d bought a Fiat I would have expected better service!

Thanks, I have the exact opposite situation with the local BMW dealer, previously fairly small, now acquired by Sytner, the customer service level has fallen far, sales don‘t follow up actions.

I can only speak anecdotally, but my experience with Porsche Hatfield — particularly with Lee — has been superb. He’s been consistently helpful, responsive and genuinely easy to deal with throughout.

I’ve also had very positive interactions with James at Porsche East London, who was equally knowledgeable and accommodating.

And therein lies the problem — it’s not always the dealership itself, but the relationships you build within it that ultimately shape the level of service you receive.

Whilst I can’t comment on UK dealers’ willingness to negotiate, I can say that dealers in the Atlanta area will, at least, often offer that first two year maintenance as a courtesy. If I were still living near Wethersfield in Essex, as I did a good many years ago, I might well be a customer of the Porsche dealership in Colchester today!

I’m sure the locals would have preferred the US base to remain - it houses asylum seekers now. They spend less locally than the US contingent when they were there !

Far more cost effective than hotels - Porsche Colchester paid for our night in a hotel and it was extremely expensive and not great value. Nice though.
