Android Auto navigation suddenly not shown on HUD?

Ok, update on my situation:

-Tried apple maps, worked fine
- reset PCM (20 second volume knob press) and Google maps still didn't work after that.


Seems to be pointing to google/android issue

Just checked the Google maps page in the Google Play store and it shows that the last update was Jan 14, 2026, which is right before jwatte made this post. Seems to correlate.

I reported the issue in the maps app through the "help and feedback" function to try and get it on their radar. If anybody else wants to report it, we can be the squeaky wheel

Good sleuthing. I'll file a similar request.

I guess this is a motivation for me to finally try Waze. Do you need to do anything special to get Android Auto to default to Waze instead of Google Maps?

I just tried on mine, and it works. However, it will not show on the main display UNLESS you have a destination set.
So just sitting the car, i cannot get Google maps to show on the main screen... But I've i start navigation to a destination, it comes up as expected. And I'm Android

Thanks for checking. When you say "main screen" are you referring to the HUD? Or one of the other screens (behind the steering wheel or on the center console)? The problem some of us are experiencing is specific to navigation instructions in the HUD. The other screens are working as expected.

To confirm and reference for future findability. Google maps works fine across the various screens, except the HUD as of last week.

Seems to coincide with an update on Google's side, however their products update frequently e.g. every 2 weeks to 3 months.

I notified my dealership and the service department are currently looking into it. Appointment fir end of Feb to also do the software update/recall.
