  2. Do you think Seat Backrests Shells Leather is worth it? If not, why? ($1760 - AFU)
  3. What are your thoughts on Bose vs Burmester® High-End Surround Sound System upgrade? ($4870 - 9VJ)
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have the Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass as well as the Burmester sound system.

While the glass likely does affect the cellular signal somewhat, I haven't noticed any problems resulting from that. In the areas I frequent, my AT&T cell phone has continued to work just fine.

I have been pleased with the Burmester sound system, and received compliments from people who were passengers in my car. Unfortunately I can't compare it to the Bose system because I haven't listened to one in a Macan EV.

Honestly, I'm getting stressed about the sound system..
. I ordered the Macan with Bose, but I could go crazy and pay an astronomical amount of money for the Burmester system!
Would it be worth it?
I love music, I have Apple Music, and I love listening to it in high quality.

I think the heated windshield is going to affect your cell reception a lot more than insulated glass. If I’m not mistaken, the heated windshield has a metal mesh layer to provide the heat. I would leave off a few options like sport sound, the backrests and alcantara headliner to make room for the Burmester. I test drove a couple of Macans with the Bose and opted for the Burmester and double layer glass. This may be a dumb question but that’s a lot of options for a base Macan. I assume you aren’t worried about resale value.

I agree with the previous post. Have you considered upgrading to a 4S or GTS? For that price you can even get a Turbo which comes with more options by default (also partially applies to 4S and GTS). I hate to talk about resale value when buying a car but this will have an epic depreciation curve. People usually compare models and you get quite little from packing it with expensive options.

I think heated windshield is completely unnecessary except if you park outside in snowy conditions a lot. The car can be preheated in the app which solves icy windows anyway.

Totally understand and appreciate comments regarding resale value if upgraded to 4S, GTS, or Turbo.

I do agree this is good to keep in mind but it is not a concern as car will be kept until end of lifespan. In addition, base model provides more speed for my needs.
I figure that the money is better spent on options for me, and I’d like to know about your experience regarding the options available.

A huge depreciation is all but expected balanced by significant amounts of copium :CWL:

Based off feedback so far, I’ll be removing the Heated Windshield and adding pre-wiring for dash cam (non-Porsche OEM). Any recs for aftermarket dash cams?

I have the heated windshield as well, and as I stated earlier my AT&T cell phone works just fine with it. Cell phone performance should not keep you from adding it to your build.

And the heated windshield has been genuinely useful even in SoCal. Having four people that are wet with rain get in the car after dinner and bringing a bunch of moisture inside caused condensation that the heated windshield cleared up quickly.

Stunning although I think unless I missed it you are missing the best option on my Macan which is innodrive, the car completely steers itself on the highway just by resting a hand on the steering (bottom let’s say).
On the MY26 I believe it’s call drive assist or something and does even more things like change lanes by itself if you indicate (same as travel assist on VWs).
Regarding Burmester I would start unticking options left & right just to pick it over Bose, lesson learned.
It’s refreshing to see a high spec Base, I am in the minority but do not like the look of the GTS/Turbo models.

I have a highly optioned 4 (well, 2: one ordered new and one CPO). I use Innodrive regularly on the highway drives. I have the insulated glass and it is mandatory IMO for a sunny /hot climate where I live. my wife also has a 4 without it; after-market tint helps, but I can feel the heat entering via her front window vs my vehicle. No heated windshield on either vehicle and no cell reception issues. I did have a heated windshield on a previous Land Rover which I used infrequently but liked it quite a bit. Both vehicles have HUD, which I like a lot - directional arrows on windshield when on routing are nice IMO. When we bought her CPO, I thought there are 3, maybe 4, big options to consider: Innodrive, rear steering, HUD, and Burmester - well, and wheels. I got 20 aero wheels for mileage; wife has 22; I vastly prefer the ride on the 20’s, but maybe tire brand affects that too, Pirelli on mine, Continental on hers, but likely it is rim size. I too didn’t think I needed an S or Turbo since I have a lead foot; my 4 out-accelerates every ICE car I’ve encountered over the past year, and I rarely use its full potential (and, yes, of course, it won’t beat every ICE car out there like the turbo).

The truth is, it's my dream car and I don't want to mess things up... by choosing the Bose sound system instead of the Burmester... even though it's much more expensive! I'm really confused. I think I'll order the test car again and check the Bose sound quality again.
I retired from 30 years in music industry recently hence my macan 4 with many extras (!) - my opinion is Bose is very good for dance, club, electronic, pop (ok yanks its edm) mainly via apple music, with some equipment tweaks it deffo works well 8k miles down the road with 1300km trip to Amsterdam and back via Paris spoken word audio also does well. cant speak for classical or other genres. but do not go base audio unit with no boot (truck) underfloor bass unit. the space saved is negligible and the cabin deffo needs the bass, believe me. Burmeister may well be better but it's very expensive. Rear steer a must also. esp if you do any city driving. but in the country on tight roads it rocks with rear steer. 14 way comfort massage and cooling also must on my list (have and use everyday) rear wiper a must in norther Europe so no acoustic for me - not bothered tbh. extended leather also makes interior much lifted and more premium than regular trim. deffo upgrade front headlights to matrix. I have off-road pack and use it everyday (extra lift & some underbody protection) but not needed if you don't seriously have rough roads / tracks weekly daily. panoramic fab also nice trick is to drive fast with pan open - that causes rear spoiler to extended further (hehe) looks cool but also compensates for decreased aero pan roof effect. HUD also daily must have. compass in dash also v handy for me anyway! thats my pennies worth so far!

I want to correct this: I didn’t order the Burmester. I had Burmester in my previous Cayenne GTS and the Bose in my Cayman S. I’m not an audiophile and so, while I ordered most other options, I went with Bose for sound.

I posted this in another thread a year ago: On my first long drive back from picking up the Macan, I thought the Bose was terrible. My wife never listens to music and even she said, “that’s terrible!” It was so bad, I remember feeling that I’d made a huge mistake not ordering Burmester. Yet over the next couple of weeks, the Bose sound got so much better. It was very bad and got better. It was the Bose and not me or something else - the road, etc. It never got to the quality of the Burmester in the Cayenne, but it is good IMO (I can’t speak to the base system).

There are people here that say speakers don’t “break in.” I don’t know. Maybe there is an acoustic feedback system that adjusts the sound profile. Whatever. The sound quality absolutely changed for the better. If you’re an audiophile, go Burmester, but the background noise, even though this is an EV, is sufficient to make true high end listening sub-par to listening at home IMO.

If it’s any consolation, lots of folks here seem to think the Bose speakers are adequate and perhaps even preferable over the Burmester given the cost to performance ratio.

Having heard the Bose in the Macan EV and other Porsche models (eg, 911 Carrera), I personally like the sound signature with a slight bass boost.

Haven’t heard the Burmester yet, but I probably should soon. I do have a friend who has the Cayenne Turbo ICE who might have this upgrade— I guess I’ll ask him soon.

I know it’s not an accurate way to assess in the Macan EV specifically, but how similar is the sound quality among Bose / Burmester across various Porsche models?
