I’m a recently new owner of a Macan 4S. I love the car but, against a WLTP forecasted range of 380 miles, I’m surprised to see actual range at around 100 miles less. I’ve driven conservatively, in Comfort mode, with minimal aircon (15-22C ambient) and headlight usage so am asking if 280 miles is a typical expectation for full charge.

I'm not a Macan EV owner (previously Taycan 4S and GTS ST owner) but the WLTP is a laboratory test and should be ignored at all costs.

A 30% differential is not unexpected in my Porsche EV experience. The Macan / Taycan EVs are not super efficient but the best metric you can use / rely on is the consumption data - Miles / KwH.

If you are the first owner then it does take time for range guessometer to accurately capture your driving style and potentially if second owner if the base data is reset by Porsche prior to handover.

12v anciliiary systems such as headlights, PCM, seat heating and so on (except AC which uses the HV battery) won't have a material impact on your HV battery and therefore range.

The killer is low ambient (mid 20s C is best), AC heating usage and short journeys (same as ICE / petrol / diesel). In winter expect range to drop further.

For the 4S, consumption is around 3.0 mi / kWh - 3.5 mi / kWh. Based on 3.0 mi / kWh this should give you around 285 miles @ SoC 100% - not a million miles off what you are seeing. Remember you have access to only 95 kWh of the 100 kWH HV battery.

Coasting (no regen) is better than having regen on - particularly on motorways.

The sensible choice for max range is the RWD Macan EV base - single motor.

I would say yes. I know this is for a RWD but at 80mph steady test it is around 280 miles.

I remember many other saying the WLTP numbers are VERY VERY inacurate. All the range test from the reviews showed that numbers are accurate to the EPA stated range....and tha's what Porsche uses too...the EPA range of 280.

In UK Porsche use WLTP which isn't helpful if EPA is a step closer to the truth.

Whats your average speed showing? Currently I'm getting the very nice range of 340 miles in a macan4,, but my commute is slow A roads with my avg speed around 35mph. I dont drive miss daisy, and use aircon and cooled seats as needed.

I have had a new 4S for 2 weeks, consumption over 821 miles has averaged 2.9 mi/kWh, but these past few days I’ve seen 3.1-3.4. Tyres also impact range, I’m on 22” spider wheels.

I charged to 80% last night, range is reporting 230 miles, which would mean ~288 for 100% - pretty much the same as you are seeing.

Yes, we should rely on the US EPA range figures, which are far more accurate.
Here is AI Overview (Google):
The official EPA combined range for the 2025 Porsche Macan 4S Electric is 288 miles. In independent 70-mph highway testing, the vehicle achieved a real-world road-trip range of 261 miles

My average speed is pretty high as commute is around pretty glowing parts of the M25 and I’m averaging late 2’s, possibly high 3’s. Knock .3 off that for colder periods.

Regen off

4S with 26000 miles on the clock. Since the large update I have found my range has dropped from about 360 to 330 when it’s fully charged. Ran it down to 5% last night to see how realistic the range shown is and I had driven 330 miles with 12 miles left so it is accurate. Found things that drag the range down are the night lights (esp full beam) motorway driving and wipers/rain. Also think wacking the vol up on the Bose sub doesn’t help. Biggest surprise has been increase in range from not having the auto full beam on. Mix of A roads and Motorway on commute giving a an average of 3.0 to 3.5. As low as 2.5 in the rain and ice of the winter.

Are you saying the SW update has crapped your range, or just reset somestatistics/predictions?

330/360 miles in the UK seems an ambitious target for my (new) car, but I hope I can get it there :D !

Honest answer is I don’t know ref the software update. Could be a reset, could be a reduction. For a positive reference, my drive from my parents to my house is all A roads and I very rarely get less than 4.0 in the summer as quite a bit is average speed cameras. 55 mph has personally been the sweet spot of me and my steady-ish driving style. I def don’t use regen btw, coasting a 2.5T car works much better for me personally. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I will monitor my progress. I do use the regen, I prefer the way it drives with that on, but maybe it damages range more than I thought. I have done a good mix of driving these past two weeks, covering ~900 miles, av is 2.9mi/kWh, but I do rather drive it like my non-EV cars - a bit of a digital right foot :CWL:!
