The Macan EV is my first Porsche.

I am planning to travel outside the UK for two 2-2.5 months this winter and so it will not be driven for this period.

I have storage for the EV but it is outdoors, so I am looking at covers etc. The Porsche Outdoor Cover looks tight and I cannot see how I can leave the charger plugged in with the cover on. Has anyone bought one and used it with the EV charger cable installed? Any other suggestions are welcome.

I am also looking at the Porsche Classic Tyre Savers. Has anyone bought them? Is there a better option? What about putting it on jack stands to get the tires of the ground? Four of these should do it https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GJJZ...ag=NoCID|f31c2cfd-707b-4f83-9933-7d25462e480c

Porsche cover is already expensive but maybe one of the dry cleaner/tailor shops can help with a cut out for electric plug. Can't believe Porsche hasn't thought about this.

The website for the official Porsche outdoor cover states:

Please note: The car cover should not be used during the charging process.

Porsche cover
Does make sense as you are blocking vents.

Even with a tight cover there will be movement with higher winds. That tends to "buff" the paint into a dull finish. I'd really rethink covering it.

I don't think it is a good idea to leave an EV plugged into a charger for so long. If you leave it with 50-60% charge over 2-3 months that should be ok. You would need to lose 35-40% of this to be of any concern, you should still be above 20% when you return.

London, England, harshest climate on the planet...

Three months in that or a green belt storage facility should be fine. I left my 911 out in Lincolnshire for months on end. Vehicle fine. Don't cover unless the vehicle is inside; as others have said you will possibly return to lightly buffed paintwork.

With regard to tyre savers - is that strictly necessary for 3 months off the road? I unintentionally left my Tesla in the garage here in Canada for 18 months (mistimed visit to the UK, COVID travel restrictions kicked in, no permanent residency at the time, so I was stuck in the old country). I see horror stories from tire shops, but the Tesla was fine. Put it on jack stands if you want to be sure, otherwise make sure the tyres are properly inflated, the car's clean and enjoy your travel. I've repeatedly left cars in Vancouver airport car parks for 3 months with zero ill-effects (other than needing a good wash, and my wallet feeling markedly lighter).

EDIT: and I know this is purely anecdotal, so treat it with the disdain it deserves :).

Intrigued by this - the storage instruction for the Tesla was "set to 50% and leave plugged in". Basically you plug your Tesla in when you're not driving it and leave it plugged in. I've been doing the same with the Macan.

Would love to hear opinions on this. Tesla has always claimed it was designed to be left on a level 2 charger when not in use and I did this with the Model S I had for ten years (traded in for my Macan 4). But I've heard warnings in various posts here and on YouTube that Porsche recommends agains this. Wonder what the facts are.

This is odd, one of Porches Spot On videos says to leave vehicle at 25-50% charge but do not plug in.
I have just had 6 years in an IPace & the instruction from JLR was to leave at about 50% so but do not leave on charge. It would be nice to know what the correct procedure is!

I posted what the manual says, but that doesn't mean it makes sense to me. For example, I am unaware that either HV or 12v battery "trickle charges" thru the AC port. Then there is the debate in the other thread about whether and under what conditions the car requests a top-off charge. A few months ago, there was a thread where the consensus was that it's best to leave the car plugged in, but I still think that was more educated guess than certainty. I believe different sources at Porsche were also inconsistent in their advice.

Edit: FWIW, I leave my Macan plugged in, but my reasoning is more along the lines of "it couldn't hurt."
