Website notes they are not truly functional as intended in the US, so is there value over standard LED lights?

You can see the differences below, but since Matrix is disabled in the US, I do not see what we are getting for upgrading to the Matrix lights (static cornering may be the only thing and who cares animation). Matrix should have PDLS+ features such as swivel to sync with the steering angle (Taycan J1.1 does that), but I cannot find anywhere that this feature is available on Macan EV.

all the features aren't on...but you can see the LED's moves as they light up certain parts of the road. There definitely is a "matrix" functionality, but i'm sure it's much less than fuctionional than overseas. It's hard to explain...even hard to know the difference because i've never seen standard lights. I would get it again

You are absolutely right, Macan EV Matrix version is the 84 LED element kind from Taycan J1.1 that is programmed for the US to work as a single unit, so it is more uniform, wider, and sharper, but it is no match for the true Matrix functionality. I enabled it on my Taycan J1.1 and it is a total game changer and a shame that we in the US do not have it and continue to blind others and ourselves. I can only imagine, saw videos, what the latest HD Matrix 16,000 units per headlights do, magic carpet, etc.

This is basically and afterthought now everywhere else, where Matrix beam is standard, but until you have it after not having it in the US, you know you are missing so much. Sometimes, I just go for a night drive for no reason to see it in action.

The “value” is to the dealer, getting you closer to the silent mandatory $18K-$20K of options before the allocation becomes worthwhile.

Manufacturers for years have been charging more money to remove things like sunroof, rear seats, radio, speakers, sound deadening, glass, A/C, door handles, leather, equipment, etc.
Slapping the equivalent CSL/RS/Weissach/Pista/Speciale/Cup/etc. moniker was enough to part these wannabe street racers of theirs (or daddy's) hard earned.

Unfortunately this practice had little effect on geeks whose only association with F1 was the help key on their mechanical computer keyboard.
Porsche engineering hard at work after many sleepless nights invented Matrix lights for the American market. Just the name alone invokes scenes of matrix code/neo stopping bullets/red pill/blue pill/woman in the red dress and its an instant buy.

That's my theory at least and I'm sticking to it, otherwise why pay more for something that does nothing.

I’d let the nonUS Macan EVs chime in but looking at this video, it’s not as impressive as the Taycan’s HD Matrix but better than stock. Less hardware, too but probably not worth it to get it coded at full price.

100% exactly how my enabled in the US Taycan J1.1 Matrix lights work (same 84 unit type) and it is a game changer. I get it, this is not as impressive as HD Matrix lights that have more features, i.e. magic carpet, but for night driving on a totally dark country or back road, it is perfect. I hope some coder will figure out how to enable it, but so far there is no one that I know of figured it out.
