Any ideas what’s going on? Range has dropped from over 300 to 250? Faultless for 7 months after 3 years of x2 hopeless Taycan 4S CT

Any ideas what’s going on? Range has dropped from over 300 to 250? Faultless for 7 months after 3 years of x2 hopeless Taycan 4S CT
Good news is, its very descriptive. Bad news is nobody on the forum will be able to pin down the cause. You have to take it to the dealer for diagnostics. The range drop might be indicative of a cell fault as PrudentOcean has observed.

One thing I find amusing about all the top brands is and their marketing is, they advertise the "cell" design as if they can swap out cells and all is well, when in reality they always swap out the whole battery; otherwise, cells have different performance characteristics.

well they can swap out cells...there's a PCNA video showing them do it on a taycan.... I image there's a lot of hoops to jump through before that can happen though.

Call your dealer and take it for a check up, don't wait for it to happen again. If it's a bug, it's a bug. You are under warranty and this shouldn't happen, especially if it is something connected to the high voltage battery. Keep in mind that you have warranty and it doesn't cost you a dime while getting a loaner.

Call your dealer and take it for a check up, don't wait for it to happen again. If it's a bug, it's a bug. You are under warranty and this shouldn't happen, especially if it is something connected to the high voltage battery. Keep in mind that you have warranty and it doesn't cost you a dime while getting a loaner.
It costs me 2 hours return travel and 120 miles fuel plus time hanging around - so half a day out of a busy life, loss of work time and that’s before repairs start. Not great really is it?

It costs me 2 hours return travel and 120 miles fuel plus time hanging around - so half a day out of a busy life, loss of work time and that’s before repairs start. Not great really is it?
I’m not really familiar with the distances between Porsche Centers in the U.S. — I imagine it’s quite different from how it is here in the EU.

That said, I just wanted to share my experience since I’ve had some pretty serious issues with my car, including it shutting down by itself while driving. I’ve been told several times by the dealer that many of my prior issues wasn't "a problem", but now the car has been parked at the dealership for almost five months because it’s considered a safety issue.

Just thought it might be good for you to know. In the end, it’s really up to you to decide what feels worth it. Keeping in mind it is related to the high voltage battery, which is similar to my issue.

I’m in Southern England- off to France next Wednesday so rather concerned given 3 years of Taycan ( 2 cars) issues prior to getting the Macan in March .
my local Porsche dealer is awful in so many ways so travelling 60 miles (100km)each way to another. Watch this space!

Technically doable, but its like replacing a single tire. The performance characteristics of the whole system change and sets things up for an inconsistent future state.

Must be a coincidence - my car is 7 months, totally faultless. Got in today and had that exact message. Then it went red and I couldn’t select drive. Turned off, got out the car, locked it, opened it and everything was normal and good. Range has remained stable throughout.

The car is booked in for the rear motor ‘campaign’ mid Oct so if it doesn’t happen again I’ll mention it then. If I get it again I’ll call the dealer but the car may be immobilised if it is reporting an actual major issue and not a software ‘glitch’.

I've heard there is a wide range of issues with cars in the UK due to the most of you needing to install an immobilizer.
UK cars are fitted with a standard immobiliser I believe.
