Free. Yes, only at a dealer. Any dealer should be able / willing to do it. My update took one day (next day because I had other work done, but update was done in one day).

At any Porsche dealership and free. You should call and schedule an appointment. Or do it through the My Porsche app. When you schedule the appointment request a loaner. It takes a few hours but they will probably keep the car for a day or two.
Now, I personally would recommend to wait a while as there are a few reports of inability to charge at home after the update. As long as your vehicle is doing fine there is no need to rush. Let Porsche work out all the kinks.

The update has been reliable, but today as I was charging at EA, this was the battery screen. It continued to charge, was drivable, and it later returned to normal after shutting down the vehicle for a few minutes. So still some bugs in the software.

How do I do the update? Does it have to be at the dealership? The one near me is not the one I bought the car at, would they do it for free (and give a loaner) or do they charge for it? Also is it gonna take more than a day?

Has to be done by the dealer. I don’t believe you have to take it back to the dealership you bought it from. As long as it’s a Porsche dealership and your car is still under warranty, you should be able to get it done for free. I am not 100% sure, but you could call the dealership closer to you to confirm.

I just received an email from Porsche notifying me about the software update. I am somewhat hesitant in view of a few owners reporting AC charging difficulties following this update. I think I may wait a bit, at least until they find the reason and there is a fix for this problem.

SW update/other recalls completed last Friday...
So far...no issues.

Even hooked it up to the TUWC on Saturday out of curiosity....no issues

So far the only error message I’ve received since installing the latest software update on my 4S is the “doors will not automatically lock” warning. Hopefully this update permanently fixed the recurring “assistance systems limited” warning.

“doors will not automatically lock”

This is the standard message for leaving the car with the 'keep it turned on' option enabled. Do you get it at other times? It does stick around when you get back in the car, so selecting that message tube and hitting the back button is necessary to clear it to get back the default tube content.

The WSJ0 update seems to have gone well on my December 2024 build Feb 2025 delivered 4S.. The HCP2 control unit failed programing the first time but completed successfully the second time through.

I don't notice anything obviously different except that the brakes seem to operate smoother, not as grabby when coming to a stop, and the car is clean from the complementary wash. Home charging continues to work at the same 9.1 kw rate (Porsche brand wall EVSE on the lower 220 VAC service). Doors lock as I walk away, unlock as I walk up.

My late 2025 model loaner 4 had 21 inch Michelin tires. I was surprised they were not noticeably rougher ride in the 10-20 degree F weather than my 20 inch Pirellis nor much different as far as feel. They were filled to 36 psi where I run mine around 40. I didn't push them, however.

I had my wife’s Macan 4 in for software two weeks ago. Zero issues. Today, I had my Macan in for a windshield replacement due to crack from a rock. They did the software update on it too. No issues post-install, and one noticeable improvement.

Previously Innodrive positioned the vehicle a bit toward the right side of the lane. In traffic with a vehicle on my right, often I would need to apply constant left pressure on the steering wheel to center the vehicle while passing. Others have reported this issue too (my wife’s Macan didn’t have this issue). Today that issue is gone; my Macan is centered in the lane. I suspect this is due to the software update. It might be due to the fact that cameras had to be recalibrated after the windshield replacement, but this is my second windshield replacement and the first time it didn’t change Innodrive centering. Whatever fixed it, I’m loving it.

Also, they gave me a Macan S ICE as a loaner, a vehicle some have said is the gas equivalent to the EV 4. I really didn’t like it. In Normal drive mode, the acceleration was lagging. Even in Sport it felt not very responsive, certainly not like the low speed torque and linearity of acceleration from the electric motor. I’d have to drive it in Sport full time to enjoy it. I also much prefer the steering of the EV to the ICE vehicle.

That's fantastic news if it's part of the update! I have turned lane keeping off because I'm so tired of constantly fighting it putting pressure to go left.

If it's not part of the update, then I might need to ask for recalibration. But thank you for the information.

I'll have to try lane keeping next week. I also stopped using it routinely because of the right bias, but I could usually fix that by driving a little to the left and then engaging lane keep. It seemed to center until I made a lane change..... then I'd have to repeat.
