Many Unsold New / Used Macan EV’s Listed on Porsche Site

I went to the Porsche US site to check out new and used prices on the Macan EV inventory. I was shocked to see the number of vehicles listed there. I even recognized a couple of vehicles in dealer inventories that were there several months ago when I previously looked. It also surprised me that many / most used prices were the same as their original sticker, although many had zero miles (on used vehicles? Perhaps customers ordered and then cancelled these ??). I guess I had expected that inventory would dry up prior to the expiration of the EV credit and the introduction of higher prices on these imported vehicles, but I was wrong.

Then again, it is a big market, big country, with high sales volumes even for a luxury brand. So maybe the total numbers aren’t so terribly large as to indicate market softness.

Any chance Porsche increased delivery of cars prior to tariffs in the expectation that sales would increase to beat the increase ?
The annual road tax on EV’s changed in the UK on the 1st April - sales of new EV’s in March were substantially up and April’s plummeted.

Could a large number of these still be in port parking lots, pre-customs (where tariffs are paid), i.e., Porsche hoping to avoid the 25% rate or have it become a lower percentage before they head through customs?

I know at least at my local dealer, they displayed my custom order as part of their available inventory before I had picked it up. I wouldn’t put much stock in inventory we see in online searches.

I check the stock of local dealers regularly, to see if there is any new color or build I want to check out in person, and it is about half of what it was a month ago. They seem to sell the 4S and Turbos within a few weeks of getting them. I don’t think they list preorders on the dealer site.

So I just bought my Macan 4S and extensively searched for cars across the US, looking for a good deal. I talked to about 6 dealers in 6 different states - ultimately going with a dealer in South US.

• Yes, there are tons of cars on the finder which are actually sold - but even then, there's a healthy inventory sitting on the lots.
• Getting 5% off MSRP is easy right now (In addition to $7.5K EV rebate if you are leasing) and most dealers automatically offered it without much negotiation - with negotiation, I was able to get 10% off MSRP and had 2 other dealers offering 7.5-8%
• I leased my 4S with the intention of buying out the lease because Porsche's money factor is insane (0.0035 which translates to ~8.5%). With the negotiation and rebate, I was able to get a neat $17.3k off my MSRP - If I include the acquisition/ disposition fee and the rent fee I would have paid for the 1st month before I buy out the lease, it still translates to a neat saving of $15k on MSRP which is over 15% of the cars MSRP - so I believe that has covered the additional depreciation that EVs are seeing and with a 5 year ownership plan, I expect around a 60% net depreciation on the MSRP

This is what was obscuring reality. There are many Mayans on the Porsche Finder that are long ago sold. It is not accurate and makes the inventory look larger than it is.
