I had this issue recently. When connected to car play I was no longer getting a data connection. I did not do a factor reset but just deleted my phone connection (from both the device menu in pcm and also Bluetooth on my phone). Then I repaired my phone to the car. Connection and data now works...

Sorry if it's been discussed already in this thread, but at least in the Bose system there is an "AudioPilot" setting which makes "Driving-noise dependent sound adjustments". Maybe that has gone haywire on you and you can try turning it off?
