I LOVE my Macan EV - for driving around town and short trips. However the thought of driving it any distance with the required stops for charging, the waits at busy charging stations, the incredibly slow charging speeds at some and the out-of-order signs at others provides more anxiety that I can handle. Frankly the system isn't quite there yet. Any idea if there will ever be a Macan Hybrid?

In short, yes there will be.

Porsche announced a u-turn a couple of months ago realising they'd scored an own goal by stopping sales of ICE Macans. EV sales are lower than expected and the ICE models sold really well since launch.

They are currently developing a new model to plug this hole which will be ICE and hybrid. It won't likely be called 'Macan' (to save face) and should be with us before the end of the decade.

By the end of the decade, there might well be solid state batteries with 500-mile range 🤔

Ha ha....there already are SSBs (hybrid) and come 2028 will be mainstream.

Gapcan (Macan ICE replacement lets say) could be sooner than 2030.

Range isn't really an issue per se if prepared to pay handsomely for public charging (plenty infrastructure) but with a 3p pay per mile tariff (UK) and a lack of need to jump solely on an EV for a few decades yet then why deviate from the norm given the lower cost of ownership and day to day practicality?

Some days I wonder if it is only me who feels as you've expressed here in the forum. My Macan4 EV is amazing and great in town, but my dream car is anxiety inducing for roadtrips. Living in Las Cruces, NM if I go to ABQ or Santa Fe, or even Phoenix, it can be a nightmare because there is always something that doesn't quite work right like extremely slow charging, down units, stuck plugs, incorrect displays on dash. One trip that I made to ABQ, stations were down so I arrived ABQ with 24 supposed miles left when I got there; I started crying it was so stressful!

Any five hour trip becomes seven due to charging or car mishaps. ! I gambled being an early adopter but now I'm considering a hybrid as second car or trade in for road trips as much as I dislike the smell of gasoline and the harm to our environment. This was supposed to be my $102,000 dream car at retirement.

I'm not an engineer but have learned more than I ever cared to know about kWs! Yes, I've used the charging planner and in wide open spaces it's not ideal. because it sends me to look for a station around and about sort of thing. If I had a do-over I would have leased.. Don't get me started on depreciation. This forum acts as my EV support group. Thank you!
