I LOVE my Macan EV - for driving around town and short trips. However the thought of driving it any distance with the required stops for charging, the waits at busy charging stations, the incredibly slow charging speeds at some and the out-of-order signs at others provides more anxiety that I can handle. Frankly the system isn't quite there yet. Any idea if there will ever be a Macan Hybrid?

In short, yes there will be.

Porsche announced a u-turn a couple of months ago realising they'd scored an own goal by stopping sales of ICE Macans. EV sales are lower than expected and the ICE models sold really well since launch.

They are currently developing a new model to plug this hole which will be ICE and hybrid. It won't likely be called 'Macan' (to save face) and should be with us before the end of the decade.

By the end of the decade, there might well be solid state batteries with 500-mile range 🤔

Ha ha....there already are SSBs (hybrid) and come 2028 will be mainstream.

Gapcan (Macan ICE replacement lets say) could be sooner than 2030.

Range isn't really an issue per se if prepared to pay handsomely for public charging (plenty infrastructure) but with a 3p pay per mile tariff (UK) and a lack of need to jump solely on an EV for a few decades yet then why deviate from the norm given the lower cost of ownership and day to day practicality?

Some days I wonder if it is only me who feels as you've expressed here in the forum. My Macan4 EV is amazing and great in town, but my dream car is anxiety inducing for roadtrips. Living in Las Cruces, NM if I go to ABQ or Santa Fe, or even Phoenix, it can be a nightmare because there is always something that doesn't quite work right like extremely slow charging, down units, stuck plugs, incorrect displays on dash. One trip that I made to ABQ, stations were down so I arrived ABQ with 24 supposed miles left when I got there; I started crying it was so stressful!

Any five hour trip becomes seven due to charging or car mishaps. ! I gambled being an early adopter but now I'm considering a hybrid as second car or trade in for road trips as much as I dislike the smell of gasoline and the harm to our environment. This was supposed to be my $102,000 dream car at retirement.

I'm not an engineer but have learned more than I ever cared to know about kWs! Yes, I've used the charging planner and in wide open spaces it's not ideal. because it sends me to look for a station around and about sort of thing. If I had a do-over I would have leased.. Don't get me started on depreciation. This forum acts as my EV support group. Thank you!

My garage has been in the process of being remodeled for the past few months so my home charger has been inaccessible and I've been at the mercy of public charging. I've completely given up on the EA charging network. Like you all are saying, there's always broken chargers, long queues, half speeds on shared circuits, etc.

Luckily, my NACS adapter arrived and I've been using Tesla charging stations. There's a bunch of locations near me that have 10 to 20+ charging spots, there's always an open spot, and I consistently get 125kw up to 80% charge. It's a good experience and it has eased my mind a lot about future road trips.

This kills me a little on the inside, because I'm not particularly a Tesla fan, and I'm still within the free period with EA, but EA has just been too terrible to use. Needless to say, I can't wait until my garage is finished, lol.

I thought I read that the Macan EV was the fastest selling Porsche ever!

The Macan (any) production numbers account for the biggest volume.

In 2025 (by end June) 60% of 45,137 units were Macan EVs and the rest ICE.

The Cayenne EV sales will now encroach on Macan EV sales on the basis it is new, better tech, more spacious, coupe version on the way and well equipped for similar money.

Personally, if i could be tempted back to an EV I would skip the Macan and take a serious look at the Cayenne.

The Cayenne, I’m tempted but, I find the Macan better styled, inside and out and the Cayenne has not that more space … the charging is faster, but on my latest roadtrip, though there are plenty of chargers out on that route they hardly go over 300kw and mostly share so you have 150 … a flatter charge curve is needed, not faster charging per c …

I would never buy a Cayenne - too big an impractical- if I wanted a Transit van size vehicle I’d buy a Transit van.

The Macan didn't get the instrument binnacle it should have as per Taycan and Cayenne (and most of the rest of the ICE range). Corner cutting and feels overall incomplete to me at an inexplicably high price.

Cayenne EV rear end is gross and here's hopping they make a better job of the coupé.

Cayenne EV has adjustable (electric) rear seat and affords more rear space.

Ha ha, transit van it is not.

I've owned an S and GTS previously and overall size is within the Panamera or Taycan range.

Suggest to check the dimensions and then make a call on whether it is too big or impractical - 10 cm in length difference is all 4.9m vs 4.9m (Taycan) vs 4.8m (Macan).

Did you liken your Taycan to a Transit van also??

Have seen and seated in the new Cayenne, in real life it’s not that ugly, even the back is OK ish, was also the feedback of everybody that came to see it. While it offers a bit more space, the overall interior space and booth are marginally bigger, I had hoped it would be as practical as the Q7 I had, but it landed short. As an overall package the Macan is nicer, let’s hope the Coupe can replicate this, though practical wise the verdict is in and for me that was a let down. (Driving wise it will not be as agile as the Macan, that is pure fysics, maybe the turbo with the hydrolics can beat it but then you land at 230K …)

Sold second Taycan 4S CTS in March - totally useless on reliability- Macan has been brilliant so far as have Porsche Tewkesbury- a decent dealership imho!
