Just finally had to drive into work since getting my Macan 4 on Friday. Left earlyish (6:15 am) which allowed me to try out acceleration from say 50 to 70 and such...way, way better than expected. Cant imagine wanting more (yes, with the Macan 4 I do wish for a little more umph from 0 - 25 however).

2nd half of the trip was trying out InnoDrive a bit more, having only tried in fairly straight stop and go traffic over the weekend. I should note we are talking modest traffic, about 50 mph, on Lake Shore Drive in downtown Chicago, coming in from the north, from Belmont to Monroe street. If you don't know this patch of road, know two things: lanes (4 of them) are VERY VERY narrow, and there are two 90 degree turns you really cant do over 40 mph max. Straight for the first half, curvy around the Navy Pier. The left lane (which I was mostly in) is inches from the middle barrier the whole time.

Needless to say, I had my hand on the wheel with a loose grip the whole time, ready to prevent my baby from scraping, or worse!!!

And I never had to take control. InnoDrive worked perfectly the whole trip. Slowed down appropriately for the 90 degree turns and did them perfectly. If one gripe perhaps did not reaccelerate as quickly out of the turns as I would prefer, but not too terrible.

I consider this one of the hardest use-cases out there...very impressed.
I know the road well, that is a good test for sure.

I have been using active lane keep and cruise control ever since I took delivery of my turbo in Chicago suburb last Friday afternoon. However disengaged the speed change and it has been doing fine. Is that inno drive? I have my car specced with inno drive however nothing in my car not or Manuel refer to mentions inno drive.
it has been doing well except the steer control couple of time became bouncy when faced sudden turn on highway. Also whenever there are intersections or traffic lights when the lane or side of the street gets interrupted the auto steering lets go.
today in a construction area it gave me a couple of assistance options limited notification however cruise control and auto steering kept working. Not sure if it was because of the construction.

Right, if you car can auto steer then you have innodrive.

Please see this post of mine regarding InnoDrive section in the manual.

Again, for self driving (limited but more than enough) you MUST get innodrive. Active lane keep will not do the trick

I have Innodrive on my '21 Cayenne GTS. I don't use Innodrive, however, as I prefer ACC and I always use Active Lane Keeping (that's what it's called in my manual) on highways and other roads with well marked stripes. In those situations, it is great at keeping my Cayenne centered in the lane. Very happy with it and I'll spec Innodrive when I order my elec Macan.

I was really looking forward to enjoying all the tech that the new Macan promised, like InnoDrive and active parking...

I waited until I had 2+ months of driving experience with InnoDrive. My impression is that it is very useful in stop and go traffic.

But in other situations like highway driving, it's a hit or miss experience; about 95% reliable on highways, but that 5% miss could have catastrophic results. I've had to take over control on several instances on highways so I just can't feel comfortable fully relying on it. I loosely grip with two hands on the wheel when InnoDrive is activated and allow it to steer , throttle and brake, but I stay ready to take over at moment's notice, which I find is worse than just driving the car myself.

I also sense that the lane-keeping tends to stay slightly right of center. This is unnerving as I feel the car unnecessarily gets too close to cars and barriers on the right.

InnoDrive is not much of use on most street driving - too many turns on narrow streets with parked cars. It's good that it sees Stop signs and slows down towards the intersection, but doesn't come to a full stop like a Tesla would, just crawls through it. -why?

Motorcycles and bicycles show up on the screen, but often their locations are inaccurate. Being a cyclist myself, I know that a passing car at speed creates turbulence, thus I stay way clear of cyclists when passing, but the Macan on InnoDrive does not. InnoDrive also seems not to recognize pedestrians until way too close.

Overall, InnoDrive shows promise but needs much improvement. Fortunately, the Macan is such a pleasure to drive (without InnoDrive 😃)

Mine by default drives on the right of center but I've noticed that if you engage lane keep when driving in the center or slightly to the left, it will most of the time maintain that relative position until lanes are changed.. Slower speed traffic, stop and go, open highway works great for me. Otherwise anxious moments.

I’m just going on faith that it’s as least as good as what was in any of my other cars the last five years. I think most car makers use a version of the Mobile Eye system or some common OEM.

That is to say that it will do a great job of tending your speed on highways and in stop and go, keep you in the lane except for sharp corners for posted speed, possibly change lanes if you signal, do a hit-or-miss job of adjusting your speed based on nav data or signs (usually just turn this part off). In general will take the stress out of the boring parts of driving.

I still feel like full city driving with street light, pedestrian awareness, intricate routing is a gimmick/tech demo up until it works perfectly. Otherwise you are constantly on the lookout , high stress “will it do this right” every five seconds. Or you build up complacency just enough for you to let it make a stupid mistake.

The only thing that InnoDrive handles poorly for me are instances where the lane widens to split into two or for an exit lane.

The car tries to stay centered in the widening lane and then can’t make up it’s mind about which lane it should get into when lane markings appear in front of it.

Mine in the UK definitely keeps to the right so nearer the white line than the kerb. I’ll try ColdCase‘s suggestion as it does bother me a little. Stop / go works very well - it restarts after a much longer stop than my previous Lexus & Range Rover.

It's good that it sees Stop signs and slows down towards the intersection
It doesn't -- it uses the GPS map. Also, in my experience, it starts slowing down way too early for those.

I agree, it behaves very much like that system, except with better feedback with the "AR" HUD option (it underlines the cars it's "seeing" in green bars.)

Also, it switches to the correct car ahead after lane changes much faster than the e-tron GT did, so something's newer/better about this version. Maybe just it can track more cars in parallel.

The only thing that InnoDrive handles poorly for me are instances where the lane widens to split into two
Yeah, I have to yank the wheel pretty hard at those places on my commute.

Stop / go works very well - it restarts after a much longer stop than my previous Lexus & Range Rover
Even better, if it turns off in a long red light or whatever, once you press the gas, it will automatically re-engage. And for the ultimate in pedal-less driving, you can just pull the cruise control stick towards you to re-engage right away. But it accelerates slower than most drivers do, so people behind might get impatient ...

On my trip back from the dealer I was driving with traffic at 70 (posted limit was 70mph) and then a 55mph sign popped up and bam, it slammed on the brakes and brought me to 55. Thankfully no one was behind me! Will be turning off speed limit reading when I get it back from being wrapped o_O
