Hello there!

It has been really hot here lately, and first time in my auto-owning life that I feel heat coming from the windshield glass as I'm driving it under the unforgiving blazing sun. Has anyone else had similar experience? I hate to think that Porsche uses cheaper material, as I said I don't recall such experience in my prior cars: Acura, Mercedes Benz.

Thanks!

Have you considered having film installed to cut down on the UV and thermal passing through the windshield?

I picked my car up in LA two weeks ago and drove to Palm Springs the next day. While there and on the way to Santa Barbara afterwards we were driving in temperatures between 101 and 108 degrees in blaring sunlight. The heat off the windshield was very noticeable. So much so I was questioning the air conditioning flow design in the cab, and if even the system was capable of keeping up with that extreme.

We are feeling too much heat through our door glass. Have an appointment next week to have it tinted with 35 VLT transmittence film (max allowed in our state) that it will however reduce 98% of the heat coming through. Of course less heat = less AC needed > more range.

Unlike Paris92 and many others, we do not live in a hot climate so door glass is step one; based on past vehicles think that is all we would need. But keeping an open mind, after living with it for the following month or so, we would determine whether windshield glass might be next to get heat rejection film.

I was just passing through… I live in San Francisco and need the car heat more than the air conditioning here. A balmy high of 57 here under the Marine Layer all day.

Didn't know about such option, will look into it. Thanks for the tip!

My pleasure!
So I stopped by a window tinting shop today and will bring my car in next week to add ceramic tint to windshield & front side windows. In retrospect, should have paid a bit more to get the upgraded glasses, will definitely add that on my next one... For those who are looking and exploring configuration options, I'd recommend it.

The windshield heat from my 2018 macan is unbearable during the SoFlo summer mos

Will see how the Macan EV holds up this summer. I will probably tint the front anyway ....as some say it does not impact the hud

Probably a tint is the best option.

Just to let others know, you can order the Macan EV with double-pane glass. It's supposed to keep the interior 10 degrees F cooler. I ordered it, I figured that'd help range, and it works well (also makes the cabin even quieter).

I have nano ceramic tint on every panel on the car. It helps a ton with the heat rejection.
