Electric Sport Sound - equip it or not?

I have the electric sport sound. It’s a fun gimmick. However, in retrospect I would have used that money to get the Porsche dash camera (a lot more useful).

You can turn it on in Normal…

I do this occasionally when I’m in town and would like pedestrians to know I’m there.

Do you not get a standard Accoustic Vehicle Alerting System sound in Ireland? Unless the regulations in your country don't require it, the car should be making a sound even if you don't have Electric Sport Sound.

Just go for the GTS and you will not have the option at all.
BTW: Anyone already seen a video with a demo of the "new" GTS sound options?

The safety sound is a monotone consistent hum, the sport sound from my experience varies in tone and volume. You can hear it in the video but admittedly it’s hard to distinguish

AVAS is not monotone it varies in pitch so pedestrians can tell if vehicle is accelerating or slowing down.

@outie I can confirm, it adds additional sound also outside the car !
Weird that I did not notice it the other time but now I’ve really payed attention to it and it really adds a subtle low additional “growling/roar” sound. I think it describes it the best like this:

The mandatory AVAS sound below 30km/h is like a futuristic buzz around the car and only has a slight in or decrease in volume (according to your speed).

The Sport sound adds a low tone roar like a really soft stationary v6 but really, really gentle. When you push the pedal the volume goes up noticably like in a regular car but again it’s subtle and nothing like a roaring v6 but definitely more volume than the futuristic buzz of the AVAS, and of course also to higher speeds (did drive by till 60km/h and you can hear it increase when passing by and increasing speed). I think you get the difference.

Hi All,

I’m about to order a Macan - just the base model unfortunately but need the range.

I don’t know whether to spec the electric sport sound or not. It’s not expensive but equally if it’s no good I would rather not spend the money!

Any opinions on it?
