My wife and I have been having an inconsistent experience with the Easy Entry function i.e. position of the seats, mirrors and steering wheeling adjusting to the settings associated with the key fob used to unlock the car. My wife and I have quite different seat settings so this feature has been welcome on many of our previous cars.

We typically park our MY25 Macan 4 two levels underground. Easy Entry fails to work about one third of the time i.e. seats remain in the position of the other driver if a different driver has unlocked the car. When changing drivers outside where there is strong wireless, the feature has always worked.

My theory is that the feature requires that the car have a wireless connection in order to operate. The wireless connection is weak and unreliable where we park our car in our underground parking garage.

Does anybody know for certain if a wireless connection is required for Easy Entry to work? I asked the Service Advisor at my local Porsche Centre but they didn't know.

What do you mean wireless connection?
The 5G mobile network network for PCM?
Why would that be required?
The ergonomic settings (seat, mirrors, steering) are saved each time when you switch off the car (Porsche calls this switch off "readiness" mode) to your profile linked to your key.
Your profile is automatically selected when you unlock the car.
On you door you also have 3 memory settings for the ergonomic settings which you can save with the SET button.
If you have 2 profiles you have 6 memory settings that you can use in total.
That's in theory.
In practice it's different, my guesses are:
1) Porsche/AAOS software is crap (which is a fact) so 100% success rate is impossible.
2) Both you and your wife reach the car with both keys cars selects "wrong" profile (50% chance) You can verify the profile and even change it in the PCM (although takes an eternity and the system looks like it's having a meltdown while doing it (refer to point 1 above)
3) After wrong profile is selected you or your wife adjust the seat using the controls, the "wrong" settings are now saved when car is switched off and now the correct profile has the wrong settings until they are manually changed and saved again...

I'm the only driver for the car and I found the steering wheel doesn't fully automatically adjust. (it has to move a bit lower) so I hold down the 1 button before driving usually, in additional to changing to sport mode because defaults to normal when I first start the car.

Yes

I don't know if it's required. It's a theory based on what I've observed. It's worked both times I went to the Porsche Centre to have it looked at. It works when we're outside. The problem only seems to happen when the car is parked at home, which is two stories underground.

My question is whether others have knowledge on how this feature works that might explain what we're seeing. My Service Advisor is stumped.

2) Both you and your wife reach the car with both keys cars selects "wrong" profile (50% chance) You can verify the profile and even change it in the PCM (although takes an eternity and the system looks like it's having a meltdown while doing it (refer to point 1 above)
I'll clairfy the scenario:

  1. My wife returns home, parks the car underground. The seat is in her position. She was driving with her key.
  2. Later, I go to drive the car alone, with my key. About two-thirds of the time, the car will correctly adjust the seat. One-third of the time, it remains in my wife's position. In all cases, my profile comes up in the PCM.
  3. This also happens in the reverse scenario i.e. my wife getting in to the car after I've driven it.

3) After wrong profile is selected you or your wife adjust the seat using the controls, the "wrong" settings are now saved when car is switched off and now the correct profile has the wrong settings until they are manually changed and saved again...
This is an interesting situation. I'll watch more closely for it.

I’ve found that it takes a LONG time to switch profiles. Combined with the safety system where the seat won’t move to a saved position if you’re not holding the button when you’re sitting in the seat, could it be that you being in the car when it comes time to set the seat position stops it moving

I’ve given up on this feature and just press the 1 button when getting in - the seat moves freely if you’re outside the car with a single press of the button

With Comfort Entry, the car needs to load the driver profile associated with the key fob used.

Historically and before the cloud and connected car shenanigans it was very much keyfob driven.

My guess is that as the car also logs in with the Porsche ID associated with the fob it must first authenticate which requires a cellular connection (unless cached credentials can be used) from the car to the cloud. If this connection isn't available and the fob used is different to the last one used then the settings won't change. It may be that a subset of settings are available rather than all.

Having both fobs present at the same time can also present a separate issue.
