Did that happen to anyone at a dealer where they use your car that is in for service to drive another costumer to his home without you know or your consent.
This rubbed me certainly the wrong way. But maybe i am overthinking this. Somehow it just does not fit well with me.
To be fair i also don't know yet if it was an individual that just grabbed the car without the Dealership knowing but not sure.

This is absolutely insane and not permitted in any way.

They should compensate you anything you want for having done this even it was a silly employee error. Do you want a full set of winter mats, trunk liner, leather key case, etc. I would ask for it all.

Loop in your sales rep. If he ever wants to sell you a car again he will make sure service gets on their knees for this.

If you can change dealers I would do so immediately and file a complaint with corporate because this will ruin your reputation at this dealer.

(Make sure you get your dealer to admit to the occurrence in writing right away)

Good luck

Unless it was a life or death emergency I would be throughly unimpressed.

Yeah, sales can do nothing after the fact. This is a branch manager kind of thing (or general manager.)
And, no, customer service vehicles are not intended to be available for arbitrary use. You don't have liability coverage for other people, for example.
The service may use the car for road tests, of course, but letting someone unaffiliated with the service ride in the car is not a road test.

So, that being said -- will the dealer actually give you anything other than *maybe* an apology letter? Seems unlikely. What's the actual damage to you? If you sued them, what would the tort be?

I would just ask kindly what they did with the car. If they do not admit it show them the footage. Dont start with the footage, just say you noticed the odometer is off. If they do not offer some sort of apology (free service package, free winter wheels, something else) I would start involving my lawyer. But not before, you can only win by starting friendly. Maybe it was a mistake or there is another good explanation.

Here in UK they drove excessive miles for airport valet parking. Not sure what the outcome is.

Your case however is on a completely different level. As mentioned by others, there are liability issues for your car and the customer so really can't think of any circumstances the dealer would deliberately do this. Guess simple mistake or rogue employee. In any case, manager should be extremely grateful and should offer service for free.
