An example of how photos can fail to convey the accurate color

The other day I came across this Macan 4 online and honestly at first thought it was just plain white. I didn't make much of it, but then noticed the listing has the color as being: light grey - metallic.
Turns out that the dealer is only a few kms from where I live, so today while I was driving by I stopped to check out the cars, and... behold, this exact car was parked outside!

That Ice Grey metallic will change color depending on light. In fact, just about all the Porsche paint does that... so always view first hand. If it is that important to you, view in different lighting, a cloudy sky is much different than bright sun. You can see that variations in color thread photos.

Had the same experience with that particular hue. Loved it on the configurator. Very disappointed when I saw it in person for the first time on a car standing in the shadow. Absolutely brilliant in bright daylight or under a streetlight at night. Here’s a picture of mine next to a glacier lake (real ice grey!).

To be fair, most colors look best in Sunlight. Even boring black pops quite a bit in light and especially Jet Black conveys some sparkles and interest light reflections.

Nothing compared to a Gentian Blue or Oakgreen though

Do you mean Ice Grey Metallic or Dolomite Silver Metallic? If it’s Ice Grey then that is an amazing colour as it changes colour dependent on the light intensity which is because it has flakes of aluminium in it. We didn’t know which colour to choose from the configurator but on going to a big dealership we chose this colour out of the many on display and having had the car now for 11 months am still thrilled with the colour..

Funny, I finally got a color accurate photo of my car. Maybe because I just installed new iOS and they’ve adjusted color profiles?

Cayenne in the front is Cashmere Beige(?)
- 911(?) is white.
- my Macan is Ice Grey
- Tesla is white.

Typically when I take standalone photos it always just looks white. Maybe overcast skies and contrasting colored cars helped this time.

Ice Grey Metallic truly comes into its own against a snowy backdrop.

Jet Black Metallic is a fantastic shade, though slightly confusingly named. In reality, the solid Black finish appears deeper and more truly jet-black than the metallic version.

Solid black is a great colour but like black Limos you need a chauffeur to keep it looking good . Jet Black metallic is far easier to live with!

Quite a few of the paint shades change in the light, speaking from experience with Provence which is either a lilac shade in the sun, or a smoky purple/grey on a cloudy day. My husbands Taycan is a random shade of white/silver in differing conditions. It's nice to switch it up on a daily basis lol

That’s the acid test really. When you lock your car and walk to your door, does the car make you turn back for a glance and make you smile
