I’d go GTS predominantly for the racetex interior and sport design pack. The bundles options are useful, though I’d spec them (and did) anyway.

The additional power is only useful for bragging rights down the pub. Sub 4 seconds to 60 in the 4S is enough. That was super car territory not so long ago…

I did look at swapping out my order but got a build slot and swapping with the existing dealer would have increased the lead time by 3-4 months.

I have had this dilemma with 911 and Taycan - ultimately the difference in performance is marginal - I really dislike faux suede RaceTex everywhere and am very happy with my 4S with Bose, Roof 21s better seats leather parking off road pack etc. GTS seems unnecessary hence with 911 I jumped straight from 4S to Turbo S 😁
Yeh the step up to GTS is quite marginal whereas the jump to Turbo is quite significant

Always nice problems to have! Congrats on the Turbo

Yeh racetex is a big cost and would a pain to maintain for arguably most people who buy a car in this segment (with kids or dogs)

The racetex stitching to match the blue or red exterior looks lovely though but not for an extra £4600.

I had an ICE Macan and Cayman both in GTS trim. Admittedly no kids at the time but the interiors are hard wearing and held up well. Steering wheels take some looking after but a retrain can be had for £200.

I have had an extended loan of a Turbo Macan and was underwhelmed. 4S performance in an SUV is fine. I didn’t like gas suspension either despite having had it in 2x Taycan. The Macan is an SUV based on an Audi Q6 so not expecting anything more really.
Always nice problems to have! Congrats on the Turbo
had the 911 Turbo S 2 years now - amazing beast!

Yep i had exactly the same thoughts when seeing that video, its the only video I have found (other than the promotional one) im surprised that more motor journalists haven’t got access or a test drive yet of the GTS when its landing ahead of the Cayenne.

What interior did you go for?
Crayon partial leather in the end... reasons were I fancied a change from black leather, thought it would have a fighting chance of hiding sand and the white stains from various body creams, and a little cooler in the summer too.

IMO the Racetex interior looks much nicer with the GTS interior pack (contrasting stitching, etc), but crazy how much more they want for that!

Having said that, I went slightly mental on the tech stuff instead, totally unnecessary, and I only tend to hear poor things about the Porsche tech/software anyway but it was a bit of a 'to hell with it' moment... the only option I really dithered on was 2D vs 3D surround (went 3D in the end, after a last minute switch, since it came with all the phone key stuff, but things like transparent bonnet only seem useful if you're off-road, vs preventing kerbing which was the thing I was most practically interested in - 2D has nice wheel views, 3D now has 'kerb assist', hoping this will work as well as that, but I fear not quite).

Lugano is locked in now, was unable to make any more changes last week, when I was likely to scale back on tech, (3/11 spec freeze, 3/12 build date). I'm sure I'd have been perfectly happy with a 4/4S with air suspension, RWS, matrix lights (a must for me around all these country roads in winter), nice wheels, and a few other choice options, but finding an ex-demo/VAT approved car (it's all through my business) to a spec I really liked (that wasn't the other end of the country) was proving harder than expected, with decent cars going quickly, and not a huge choice otherwise.

Good luck narrowing it down!

Yeh im likely going for boring black but adding blue seatbelts to give it something interesting. I also considered red but that would of been a wild “superman” choice against blue in most people’s opinions

I would definitely go for the GTS. I really like the design of the sport design package (in particular the rear). I believe it looks much better than my turbo. The power might be unnecessary over the 4S. I’ve done full throttle twice but I think the styling and the design makes it the obvious choice. I think you’ll regret not going for the GTS if you end up going for the 4S.

Thanks, I like some of the GTS styling but the standard design wheels im really not sure about and it would be a real stretch to the 22 Spyders

Im torn between ordering a 4s or the new GTS. Much of the options I want on the 4s is standard on the GTS - Air Susp, Bose, PTV, Chrono, Leather 18 way seats. Meaning that the GTS monthly (via lease) is coming in about £80 more per month vs the 4s.
However 508 bhp in the 4s is plenty for me and kiddies in the back, i expect the range on the GTS will be noticeably less and Porsche quote a 476 litre boot versus the 540 litres for the others (albeit the sound system removes some of that) Also the standard GTS 21 design wheels are not to my taste and I love the 21 offroad wheels - which are not available on the GTS. Im not adding an extra for better looking 22s that will push up the price and impact range. Although admittedly I haven’t seen these new GTS wheels in the metal.

Overall my aim in getting a macan ev was to combine sporty driving with practically but im struggling to make a decision on this and need to order asap.

As its just been released there no test drive content online, only a walkaround by Autogefuehl so unsure about the drive or feel versus other models.

Any help & advice would be appreciated
Thanks
If you looking for sporty over comfort/range then I would pick the GTS. If comfort is you goal then I have to say the 4 over the 4S. Why? Because you can option the 4 at lower cost (even if you add in the sport pack) and if you don't mind the less HP of the Macan 4 (and you don't care about Torque vectoring as much as you care about max range) the Macan 4 is the best comfort/range option. I spec'd them all and my choices in order would be 4 > GTS > 4S. Of course that is because I put comfort over performance (the 4 is plenty fast and sporty as it is). I would however, add in the Rear Axle steering on my 4 for the agility/utility factor.

That is of course based on my preferences. If you spec'd your dream car in all 3 builds and look at what you are being forced to buy as standard but would never pick then the trim that best aligns with your dream spec should emerge the winner.

Note: You can always buy after market rims later if you don't like the options they have and use the ones you get for winter ;). In fact I am ordering spyder rims from Custom Made Forged Wheels Rims | Forza Performance Group but at a 20 inch diameter to get comfort and style ;)

Appreciate the input here.

Yes I configured every model exactly as I would want it, the 4s & GTS is only a small amount difference- hence my post. The 4 is by far the worst option for in terms of price against the others and from my research the range is either the same or marginally better. If i was going for range as a priority- i would get the RWD.

No doubt the 4 as more than enough power for a daily for most but I am looking for more sportiness for when Im not taking the family out shopping. Ie fun on great country roads here - thats where the extra power, PTV and sportier tuning comes in. The 4s & GTA will have enough overall comfort on Air suspension.

The only thing i would be forced to buy with the GTA over the 4s is the slightly diffferent styling & 18 way seats. Also those 21 aero design wheels that wouldnt of chosen and can’t have the offroad 21s that are available on the 4s.

So the GTS provides’more Porsche’ performance and arguably better seats but at the expense of lesser wheels.

On after market rims thats not an option for me on a lease and feels like another expense (and hassle) but thanks for the idea 👌

Reframe it - only 2% of the cars value to get the 22’s and have the wheels you want!

I do get it, deal specifics aside, they do not depreciate well and they are about £45pcm to upgrade on the GTS and about £65 on the 4S.

Yep its definitely worth considering, annoying and controversial as it is I still think the Offroad 21s look better than the Spyders…i know thats against the Porsche way! 😂
