My Porsche app: New ‘Online Software Update’ / OTA Function?

I was just in the My Porsche app, and within Vehicle Details > Functions, I noticed an ‘Online Software Update’ tile… would someone mind confirming if this new? Or was I just not paying attention beforehand?

It’s in the UK version and the OTA updates are switched on by default. Seems to indicate they may be preparing at least a map update for OTA ?

It's in my app, but greyed out (in The Netherlands).

In New Zealand mine is available and enabled by default. My car was updated to 28.13 yesterday is it related to that?

I don't have a Macan EV but this feature has been present on my app for a while in one guise or another and always featured when I had my Taycan. Appears on my 911 currently.

Don't get too excited though as this will have featured in some shape or form since day 1. Without this feature enabled you would not have received any OTA update to this point (NAV, zPCM, calendar etc).

Well I don’t think I’ve received anything OTA on my Turbo to date, so this is an interesting development

Prior to the app all of this stuff was only available via the My Porsche website (2020) and the online software updates for the vehicle had to be switched on. Back then Privacy Mode could also be toggled.

The app continues to evolve but online updates have been a thing for years now on all models.

I think the 'change' here is that the feature has been made more prominent with its own tile rather than buried.

The listed functionality remains as before.

Perhaps this hasn't been promoted to the Macan EV until recently (again unlikely).

Surprised that some folk haven't had any form of OTA update for basic PCM features as these do get pushed out periodically (map updates being the obvious one)- perhaps the option to enable online updates was never enabled nor explained by the dealership when setting up your Porsche Connect ID.
