MY26 software update (week 36) for MY24-25

Has anyone here had experience with Taycan software updates?

My dealer mentioned that they need to test the update on one of their own cars before doing it on mine, and I also heard from @Petzi that their dealer has already failed to install the update three times on one of their cars.

So I’m wondering: does anyone know if the difficulty or failure to complete the update process says anything about the quality or stability of the update itself? I’m slightly worried the car might actually get worse after the update, haha.

Appreciate any insights or experiences you can share!

I've had two Taycans and the first (MY21) was totally reliable and went through the major software upgrade which had to be a dealership visit. I'm glad it was as it took a full day and a couple of retries. Some people had their cars bricked because of it.

Personally I'm not a fan of major OTA upgrades given what can (and does) go wrong. I'm fortunate to be close to a dealership so there is no hassle involved.

I would have hoped that after 6 years now that Porsche would have matured this process and avoided the similar software issues surfacing on the Macan EV - alas this still alludes them.

This happened to my Tesla one time. Got home, plugged in the car, and started the update at 2:00 AM. Woke up to a brick and two weeks in the shop. Front wheel motor’s DC/AC converter died. Had to replace whole motor.

Will be interesting to see how the update improves/rectifies issues for those people who have been experiencing errors.

Those hoping for the Digital Key or other enhancements in the MY26 build (myself included) - looks like we’re out of luck. The only way I potentially see it being availed (assuming we have the right hardware) will be is if it’s made a paid option via the Porsche store.

Oh well… we always buy the vehicle based on what is in front of us at the time of purchase. Caveat Emptor…

Little update; the dealer in The Netherlands has the update available. The version is v28.13! They tried to install it on my car yesterday, but the process stopped. They had to leave the car untouched overnight, and today PAG is watching in the background to see where it gets stuck.

I got a changelog with all the updates the version contains. It's in Dutch, so I asked ChatGPT to translate ;-)

Interesting … I brought my car in yesterday because my parking sensor wasn’t working. They said they tried to apply software fix and it stalled and as a result they need to keep it overnight. Wonder if they tried to install the new software on mine as well?

Just had contact with them. They say that a control device is giving an error message, which is preventing the update from being installed. He will check which control device is involved.

I was just giving an estimate that my car should be finished updating and test driven by tomorrow afternoon. That means that I might be getting my car back after 6 (!!!!!!!) months of not even sitting in it tomorrow.

I have to be honest, I am in complete denial since it has been so long since I’ve driven the car. Obviously, if the red circle issue was a software problem, it would be one of the first things highlighted in the technical detail of the software. It’s a bit more important than the assistance systems for them to mention that.

I think that Germany, when telling my dealer that the software will solve the issue was only to get me off their backs, because they told me the car was “safe to drive”. When I made them put it in writing, they declined but gave me a courtesy car until the update.

I will speak to the head of service regarding this at pick up tomorrow, but probably for nothing. The only thing I know is that if it happens again, I will have every right to throw the car in their face. Therefore I am quite calm.

But yeah, in denial is the word.

Either this update fixes these problems which is great or it doesn’t which is also great becase you know your car is f…ed as they are out of other ideas and the only thing left is to replace it

I got a loaner which seems to be as problem free as @Petzi ’s cars and it’s so great to drive I’ve rediscovered how fun this car is.
