My previous car was the 2020 e-tron Sportback launch edition, and I really miss the assistance systems on it (particularly the wing cams and the 16 surround cameras which were never an option with Porsche anyway). Never had any major or regular issues and it was that car's systems (mainly the speed sign recognition and the topography based breaking which supposedly are available with Porsche) that prompted me to add Innodrive as a cost as I wanted the same on the Macan. Alas, neither work.
I doubt that there is any correlation. The car doesn’t rely on third party information for speed limits, it uses Porsche’s navigation database and the car’s cameras for sign recognition.
I was also counting on the Audi and Porsche, being VW products to result in the new Porsche being as good as, or better than the Audi performance. I wanted the 800 volt charging speed, and the improved range, and to get my drive to a dealer lower than 140 miles, ( now 19 miles). And the 0 to 60 mph is a delight. If I tell people I have to drive my new Porsche myself, I can expect no sympathy.
? It’s not so much expecting my car to drive itself - it’s expecting the paid for extras that assist my often long distance driving to work both effectively and safely. Unfortunately it does neither of those things. If you yourself had paid for an extra I would assume that a) you paid for it because it brings a personal benefit to your driving style or additional safety preferences and b) having paid for it you expect it to work. Particularly when the cost was not insubstantial when considered against the full range of extras available.
I wonder if point 2 of your observations is due to the road topography being turned on?
Blimey - it does sound like you’ve got a lot of niggles! I’ve not had it as bad as that list - just a sometimes temperamental charging cover; at one point the front windows would randomly drop half way then keep bouncing open when I tried to close them (others on here have reported the same but it seems to have resolved itself for me at least); the impact warning alert on the dashboard has a mind of its own even with the sensor turned low (also common, thankfully the car doesn’t try an emergency stop); and the frunk sensor is temperamental (also common); then the cruise control. I have some frustrations that I now know are just Porsche standard spec - such as why does the full beam headlights only automatically come on at 40mph, which is useless on country lanes and I have to manually do them; why doesn’t the sport sound stay on whatever you set it to, instead of needing to turn it on every time I get in the car…
How can you place a deposit for a car which is not yet guaranteed to surface or be available.
I have had few troubles with speed sign recognition which has been 95% accurate. The problem I do have is that with cruise control on a multilane highway it will not allow me to pass a vehicle in the outside lane (so I'm in the inside lane) unless I tap the accelerator briefly - then is resumes CC and will pass vehicle on the outside lane to me. Has anyone had this experience??
