Porsche showed off inductive charging, at least conceptually.

Shut up, and take my money!

Despite all the missteps and software troubles, you cannot deny that Porsche has been one of the pioneers in EV technology!

Pretty interesting to see this from Porsche, many other startups in the fields were working on it for the past 10 years and 0 came to mass market, hopefully no recalls on this one...

Probably because only Porsche can charge customers 7k and whatever the cost for adaptive suspension IF not included as standard for 11kW charging.
I got a 22kW Wallbox free, it’s installed a meter from the charging port, it takes me 3 seconds to plug the car in.
I have a clean floor, no pads or wires laying.
I can also back-in and still charge (7m cable).
If I wanted charging losses due to heat generation and spending my time aligning the car to the pad (my garage is tight, no self parking here) I would consider it if they paid me to use it.
This is coming from someone who has not once used wireless charging on his mobile so YMMW.

7ke for the system, plus « up to » 90% efficiency, it’s non-sens IMO

True and at the moment I doubt I would option my car with wireless charging because of the expense and the logistic issues you describe. However, exploring new concepts is how technology advances. Often the best discoveries start as a dream. Imagine parking lots where a door on the ground slides open and a charging pad rises to meet and charge your vehicle… maybe in a not too distant future and probably only in China! Lol
Or maybe wireless car charging will never happen, just like going to the moon never did according to a well known contemporary group of skeptics ;)
I do happen to charge my devices both wired and wirelessly and love to dream :)

You know that up to 90% means charging at 4kW in the depths of winter with a breeze and priest over it:CWL:
My guess is compared to a wired EVSE you will easily lose over 20% of energy for no real benefit, but will give Porsche the benefit of the doubt and wait for a test with power measurements.
