I am planning to order a Macan4 for delivery next April. A few questions:

- what are realistic build/lead times? Dealers just seem to want the order NOW. When do I realistically need to order?
- how much are Porsche discounting a new car. How far can I push?

- I presume the matrix headlights black out the bits they need to so they don't dazzle other drivers. If I don't order that option do I have to dip the headlights?
- how well does Drive Assist cope with British roads? I presume OK on the Motorway, but otherwise is it useful or would I be better off with just adaptive cruise control and lane keeping if that is possible?
- does the car come with a 12V socket in the back for a cool box etc.? Is it an option?

yes, it comes from the factory with a 12 volt plug in the back.
Here is our car, it is a 2025, it drives like a dream and no problems, other than that it needs to be restarted every now and then, you do that by holding the volume button down for 20 seconds, cars today is a computer and that we can't get a wireless connection, that should be solved by an update here in August, it's called sq5.

I’m not sure what the current lead times are, as they seem to vary by model and Porsche Centre. From memory, I managed around a 5–7% discount, so there maybe some room to negotiate.

Yes, if you don’t spec Matrix LED headlights, you’ll need to dip your headlights manually when using full beam. As you said the Matrix lights automatically mask out other road users while keeping full beam everywhere else.

I actually regret not optioning Drive Assist. It’s a nice feature, particularly on the motorway, but I wouldn’t say it’s essential. If you’re trying to keep the options list sensible, I’d probably give it a miss and prioritise a few other options first (some of which are cheaper), like Power Steering Plus. It really comes down to your driving habits and what you value most.

As for the power socket, I’m pretty sure the car has a 12V socket in the boot but as I’ve never used it, I can’t 100% confirm.

I'm from Switzerland.
My Macan was delivered a month ago. I was asking my SA how far in advance I need to order my next car when my lease expires and he recommended 6 months. He was saying that 6 months is more than enough even for a 911.

Not sure if it's relevent for the UK but I got a 5% discount. It's my first Porsche so it's probably on the low side.

I’ve had quotes from two UK dealers for a new Macan. One said delivery in January. The other in October if they can source a build slot. No guarantee that will happen though.

Since you have time I’d say you’re in a good position to wait if you want and still get your car in April.

I ordered a new Macan 4 (MY 2026) a few weeks ago. 5 month build time to delivery (USA). No discounts available to me on vehicles special ordered - approximately 3%-5% discounts on dealer stock, which is very limited.

FYI, model year 2027 the option Drive Assist (GJ7) is not available to order in North America (separate thread in this forum).

Standard LED lights have auto dimming.

Matrix is more sophisticated and worth it if if you do a lot of night driving.

Matrix HD (not currently an option) are a step up.

3 pin 240v socket as standard in rear hatch.

12v in the front.

Discounts are low - car has reasonable demand in UK. Push for free tyre and wheel insurance and Gtechniq ceramic coating.

This has been my experience, discounts are hard to find. One dealer flat out refused.

Is the ceramic coating worth it? I hadn’t considered going for it. Scared of horror stories where dealers ruin brand new paint.

I have a MY26, it has a 3-pin mains socket and a 12v socket in the boot.

I ordered mid-March, delivery ended up being mid-June, but I initially started looking/test drives from Jan. I proposed a number to the dealer, and they accepted. My car had £24k options, including the assist packages, and I go just under 10% discount. They offered Gtecqniq “free”, I took it. I would not pay >£1000 to add it.

Drive assist is quite useful, but certainly it’s much less than perfect. Air suspension is very nice!

Check insurance in your area, I found the Macan a bit more tricky to insure (I created a thread in UK section); it was more expensive than my M5, and current insurer didn’t want to insure the Porsche.

I've had it on most of my Porsches from new and I would recommend. Particularly good job on my 911. I've not polished either car since new (the Macan has turned 4 now) and both gleam.

Tyre/Wheel/Gap Insurance and ceramic coating well worth it if it can be bundled in

I was offered GAP and Tyre, but no wheel cover, I may have to revisit the dealer.

My understanding (from a friend) is Tyre/Wheel cover is ~ÂŁ1200 for 3Y?

Tyre & wheel ÂŁ450 for 2 years. Not all dealers provide both. GAP can be cheaper elsewhere (full back to invoice cover). Gtechniq ÂŁ550.

Gtechniq on my invoice listed at ÂŁ999, but ultimately they had bundled it in with the price we agreed.

I am wondering whether back-to-invoice or vehicle-replacement is best for GAP (ref), given prices will likely continue to go up. Porsche GAP is bak-to-invoice?
