Spontaneous Thermal Window Crack

So my drivers side window developed a crack, with no visible / physical damage outside or inside the glass. Dealer wanted $1800+ to replace.
Going to look into a warranty replacement as when I ordered the new glass ($695 list!) the one that came in was flawed.

Sorry for dirty car, not washing for obvious reasons.

My dealer dissuaded me from ordering this glass because it is fragile and they had many issues with that glass on other cars.

This is the first time I’ve seen problems reported for the glass on the Macan though

Strange. I would think the thermal glass is more robust because it has a plastic film laminated between two layers of glass.

Edit: on the other hand, the two panes of glass are likely thinner than the single pane of non-thermal glass, so they might crack more easily. I’m not a fan of frameless windows and think that design might contribute to the problem.

Definitely looks like the type of crack that originates from a defect; like from a small imperfection or chip at the edge of the glass.

Honestly can’t tell. Will take a look tomorrow as it’s getting replaced a d report back

Agreed. Even more so after I saw a brand new fresh replacement with a defect. Me and the service manager both inspected the 2nd replacement before it accepted it.

Update - was a defect as you can see by where the crack originated.

PCNA won’t reimburse.

I'd really push them about that. It's obviously a defect and not misuse / damage, and therefore should be covered by warranty.
