Second key dead

I just tried to use my second (spare) key for first it...dead, nothing works. Checked the battery...its fine, 3.0V. Bad remote or is there something that has to be set up use it? 2025 car, about 18 months old. Should be a warranty item?

It should definitely be a warranty item unless it’s a dead battery. I do not believe there is any pairing the customer can do with the key to the vehicle. Porsche service would have tools for that.

My special SA has a collection of brand new key fob batteries in her top center drawer. I now have a collection at my house. Already have replaced a total of four key fob batteries. Every time I replace one, all resumes electrically as it should, as it needs to.

When I replaced a battery, I do not need to re-pair it to the car, nor did my SA when she changed out both key fobs at once.

what was the solution here? wife's car was just in for a charger replacement, and a full software update (to whatever was released the last week or so). her key works. my key is not working. battery replaced so that's not the issue.
red flashes, no green led. her key green led flashes.

ha I see you're in OC, I usually use the dealer in Long Beach (I had terrible experiences at Irvine/Newport in the past...) Trading notes with them now, the module they replaced and reprogrammed shouldn't have messed up the key but, might have to bring it in again.
Ugh.

our car was just in the shop for 3 weeks the charging control module failed.

Thanks for the info. I'm due a software update but I've delayed it as long as I can. If it ain't broke...I use Irvine too when I need a dealer...otherwise I like independents for repairs.
