Dedicated to choice: Porsche owners can now access the Tesla Supercharger network

Electric Macan EV NA Porsche owners can now access Tesla Supercharger network. Free adapter for all Macan EV owners PCNA25_1106_fin

09/05/2025

Customers will have access to over 23,500 Tesla Superchargers in North America.

Atlanta. Porsche is committed to both choice and ease of use when it comes to electric vehicle charging. The next step in this program will occur on Tuesday, September 9 when Porsche customers will gain soft launch access to the Tesla Supercharger network. This means Porsche owners will have access to 23,500 Tesla Superchargers in North America – helping them find even more convenient places to charge.

Access to the Tesla Supercharger network will be possible though Porsche-supplied NACS DC adapter being made available to Porsche customers. At this soft launch stage, Porsche customers will utilize the Tesla app to enable charging. Charging through the My Porsche app and plug-and-charge is expected to follow in the coming months.

‟We are continually working to make every aspect of Porsche ownership as convenient as possible for our customers – and this news represents a significant step for owners of our electrified cars,” said Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. ‟As we launch this offering, in the coming months, we will be adding more features to make the process even more seamless.”

The Adapter
Going forward, all new model year 2026 Porsche Taycan and Macan Electric models will include Porsche NACS DC adapter at no additional fee. Model year 2025 Taycan owners and all existing Macan Electric owners are eligible for a complimentary adapter. This group of owners will receive notification via their My Porsche app to reserve their free Porsche NACS DC adapter shortly.

Model year 2024 and older Taycan customers can elect to purchase the Porsche NACS DC adapter from the Porsche Online Shop and at local Porsche Centers starting today. The MSRP of the adapter is $185 and enables Porsche owners to charge their CCS-equipped Taycan and Macan Electric models at DC fast charging stations equipped with NACS/J3400 compatible cables, including select Tesla Superchargers.

How it works
This soft launch will allow customer access the Tesla Supercharger network ahead of the full operational launch – with enhanced features such as access via the Porsche app and plug & charge capability – following in the coming months.

Customers connecting to a NACS Tesla Supercharger will need to take two simple steps – the first being to download and register on the Tesla app to activate Tesla Supercharger stations.

Other stations, such as Ionna and Electrify America with NACS handles, can be activated via the My Porsche app. Next, they will use their new Porsche NACS DC adapter to connect to the charging station cable before it can then be plugged into the car.

Charge Planning Software
All model year 2026 Taycan and Macan Electric variants will come with the necessary navigation features to incorporate the location of additional chargers. Model year 2024 and 2025 Macan Electric models will receive this software update before the end of the year, while model year 2025 and earlier Taycan variants will receive their upgrade thereafter. All charge-planning software updates will be complimentary.

Finally! Saw this on Google already. Nothing noted in the Porsche App about the adaptor yet. But the Macan does show up in the Tesla app and you can select it as your car. Just need the adapter now:)

Wow. Great news about access to wider charger network!!

Really shocking to consider Porsche would provide adapters for free to model years 2025 onward and charge 2024 model year for the adapter. Good news is the price is same as on Amazon without the Porsche Logo.

The bad news is charging $185 to loyal Porsche Owners who were in the 1st wave of orders for commercial production (especially multi model multi decade loyalists) only to receive their cars in Sept/Oct after Porsche finally obtained US approvals to release those vehicles for official import and delivery to dealers only a few weeks before 2025 models arrived for delivery.

it’s equally disturbing to note that the $185/unit pales in comparison to the absorption of the US Import Tariffs - since these went into effect - are resulting in 2025 model deliveries costing Porsche ~12% or more of their profit margin per total vehicle price currently. PCNA has not yet raised prices of cars being delivered to Dealers so PCNA’s eating the tariff in early phase (saved dealers from raising prices allowing sales to blossom) including new cars delivered through Sept that weren’t eligible for pre-tariffs exemption.

Given the US is currently Porsche’s largest market outside Germany (with China having been weak for all import luxury brands in 2025), hitting Porsche owners of 1st model 2024 launch cars - that are only weeks older than 2025 model year cars - with such a small charge for the unit seems truly pedantic, short sighted and disrespectful to their Loyal US buyers.

Financially, the sale vs “free of charge” units to the small # of 2024 model owners - out of total US Porsche cars sold across all ICE, PHEV, EV units - frankly won’t even register a decimal point of improved Operating or EBITDA Margin on Sales of Porsche cars in the US.

A truly pathetic lack of common sense considering those who can afford a Porsche can afford the charger unit. All or none is more logical.

Otherwise, I’m personally glad we are all getting access to more charging stations.

This will help remove “range anxiety” and make our EVs more all around practical not for trips and local daily commutes alike!

Cheers to all fellow Porsche Owners of all model years!

Read the announcement again. The adapter is free for all Macan EV owners.
Yes, Out of Spec Dave reported this several months ago, but good to get confirmation. Not an inconsequential expense for Porsche.

Given the announcement was years ago (December 2023 to be exact), one might think they had planned for this for awhile, perhaps even expecting to get it done earlier. Thus the cost of adapters may have already been accounted for in the sale of our cars.

I am happy to receive the adapter for free, but I would also have paid for it. It's a nice perk and the total cost to provide these purchased in bulk is probably minuscule for them to absorb. Not sure why the early adopters don't get one for free; perhaps it's a legal and/or tax issue of some sort "past a certain date..." and if so, that should be explained.

That said, the cost of the vehicle is overpriced currently and with the tariff hit they are absorbing and probably fewer sales when the price increases, (if the tariffs stick), they probably can't technically afford to give anything away for free. Maybe it was baked in to the cost already... that is a good point.

I feel they may be in a precarious situation with this particular model at an increased price point. I think Macan EV sales could drastically decrease if that does happen.

charging $185 to loyal Porsche Owners
Every Macan owner gets it for free. You're in the wrong forum to complain. But, evenso, if you were a Taycan owner, you didn't buy the car after the NACS switch, so you didn't have that expectation anyway.

Get the Lectron on Amazon and enjoy, rather than complain. (Unless complaining is how you enjoy, in which case I recommend posting your complaints on ChatGPT for best moral support!)

Thanks for correcting me. I was given wrong info that 2024 Macan model ye needed to buy them but that is only for 2024 Taycans not Macan EVs. Appreciate your sarcastic tone and more importantly correcting me. I was able to get the right info tonight on the Porsche App.

Like others I would buy it if not for free anyway for the expanded travel flexibility. It was a matter of erroneous principle I was making.

I hope you enjoy your a Porsche as much as I have since 1987. Cheers to you for setting me straight.

Any speculation on the company making these? I'm fearful it's going to take them a few months to crank these out.
