Anyone gotten information regarding the new big update that is supposed to be coming this week?

It is said to be fixing many software issues for all MY24-25 and therefore I recommend you contact your own dealer.

Just a heads up - Some people say it is only for MY26 production line and ours will be updated next year like the Taycans have.

Happy driving!

Am a little loss as to why the MY26 line. Isn't that just started and why the need for a SOTA update then.

Sorry, maybe I wasn’t clear! The software is already updated and ready for the production line of the MY26. But, for us to get the update the distribution could take a long time!

...And what about the cars just entered production, like mine among so many others in here for instance??Is it possible to be such idiots to have the cars on construction phase on the one hand and on the other to have the new software available and ready for installation but you keep the new software only to be installed to MY26 models meaning not earlier than late November/early December?Who on Earth could actually thing that way?Something don't add up here...it simply doesn't make sense!!!

It makes total sense to me that if they have a big version change they’d be organized about how it is rolled out, and not just slap whatever latest version on whichever car they are making this week.

it also makes sense that they’d introduce it on a new model year, rather than mess with thousands of cars in the field and potentially cause them problems.

Unfortunately they aren’t in the position to push frequent and constant fixes if something goes wrong, so they do it the cautious way. Thus they are pretty controlling about software versions.

Now, if they decide it is good for MY25 then sure, we will see it loaded at factory and available at dealerships.

My advice is if you own one, sit tight and try to be happy with it the way you bought it. If you don’t own one yet then decide if the features are worth waiting for. MY 26 is realistically still 3-5 months away from being at dealerships.

IDK, it made sense in 2010 not now where OTA should be the norm.

I'm with you and these should be OTA, but boy would I be sweating pushing updates to tens of thousands of vehicles that if bricked would clog up the entire dealer network and possibly risk safety šŸ˜…. I'm not excusing them since Tesla and others do it just fine, but I don't have a lot of faith in their software... It's their own fault since CARIAD has turned out to be trash at writing code, hence their pivot to Rivian. Hopefully, RJ will save us 😁

Porsche AG and my own dealer. It has been in shop for 3 months due to it. I even have it documented by mail from the head office in Sweden if it helps.

But we don't see OTA, that's my point. That's a separate discussion but we have to look at their strategy through the lens of the current state of things. If they can't just push a hotfix then they're going to be very controlling of which versions are being installed, and how.

If anything though I would expect distribution of updates to dealers and their application of updates to be smoother and more status quo than it was 5-10 years ago.

So the mail you received says there is software in development for MY24-25? I'm all for that and hope it gets you back on the road ASAP. Just seems odd that most are functioning fine with the current software. It would lead me to believe that yours could be a hardware issue. Now, it's also possible that they are coming out with software to patch/cover up bad hardware to save on replacement costs, like they did for Meltdown/Spectre CPU hardware issues. That's just speculation on speculation though :)

Firstly, thanks for your message! :) I apologize if the last one sounded dry, I was not in the most quiet environments.

There is a specific issue that they say is resolved by this major update for my car and others apparently - By ā€theyā€, I mean Porsche AG that said specifically to my dealer that there are multiple issues that will be resolved with this update for the software as a whole including ā€mineā€. Whatever that means I do not know since they’ve said that software is my cars main issue and it has been at the dealer for 8 out of soon to be 13 months in total.

Porsche Sweden has stated that they are waiting for the major update for my car without any specifications and that I should ā€hang on tightā€.

If there is anything that isn’t clear just tell me!

My UK dealer said there is no update scheduled for my car. It’s going in for the rear motor recall which I thought only effected Turbos (mine is a 4S).

Iā€˜m looking on the bright side that the ā€˜upcoming significant upgrade’ will have the recent increased functionality announced and that is why it is being installed in 2026 models. The realist in me expects that the reports of a significant upgrade didn’t relate to 2024 / 2025 cars but the 2026model upgrade.

They need to get the person who wrote the Warning/Error message screens on it. Their code has been the most reliable šŸ™ƒ
