Hi all,

I have ordered the Macan Turbo with the following Specs (PTPG9RZ9): https://porsche-code.com/PTPG9RZ9

This is my first time configuring Porsche. Can you please share your thoughts and suggestions for these specs?

I am confused on the following points:

- Comfort Seats vs Sports Seats : As I am a tall guy (6' 1), I thought the comfort seats are better suited for me than the Sports seats and you can add the massage option on the comfort seats.

- 20 inch vs 21 inch vs 22 inch : The 20 inch option in the Turbo is not great and I feel the 21 inch I have selected is a good option which will also have a good range and better handling of bad roads, please share your thoughts.

- Rear Axle Steering: I have selected it, but still confused if it is needed?

- Gentian Blue Metallic vs Oak Green Metallic Neo : I know it is a personal preference, but I am confused between these two colors.

- Sports Chrono Package vs Porsche Design: I feel Porsche Design is probably not worth it.

I still have time before my final freeze date. Please share your thoughts / suggestions. Thanks!

The center console surround will be black plastic with this configuration. If you add “Interior: Center Console Surround in Leather with Deviated Stitching” you can get it wrapped in truffle leather to match the rest. I did this with my interior and picked a stitching color that matched, vs deviated from, the rest of the interior stitching. I saw a forum photo with this option and thought it made the interior look more premium.

I added the Air Quality System to mine. Don’t have the car yet so not sure how much it helps, but not expensive.

Also, the Smoking Package costs nothing and is an ashtray insert that can fits in the cup holder. You can use it as a pen and pencil cup for your desk.

I think both exterior colors are great. I saw an Oak Green on the street and it was awesome, but could also be named Very Green.

The comfort vs. sport seats issue is not so much based on height but more on weight - the primary difference between the seats is how "aggressive" the side bolsters are. If you gravitate to the heavier side you might find the sport seats uncomfortable because rather than fitting "within" the bolsters you'll be sitting / spilling over "onto" the bolsters. The best way to know is to sit in both.

Wheel size - the larger you go the less your range. The larger you go generally the better they look. The larger you go the SHORTER the tire side wall height (all wheel/tire combos have the same overall diameter - if wheel is larger sidewall of tire is shorter). So - if your concern is "rough roads" you probably want the smallest wheel to get the tallest tire side height. I have the 21 inch wheels on mine (same wheel you selected) and I think they're great both in function and appearance.

Rear axle steering - nobody needs it but it can provide some minor performance enhancements if you're really pushing the car on a track. I think it's a silly option for an SUV - more applicable if you're shopping 911 or Cayman. From a practical sense it does reduce the overall turning circle size so it does make the car more nimble for daily driving.

Blue vs. Green - both are deep, metallic colors. Both pretty with color changes depending on the light. Both dark enough that if you obsess about scratches and swirls you'll readily see them if you induce them into your finish. You'll want a good PPF / ceramic coating with each to make them easy to maintain while protecting appearance.

Sport Chrono vs. Porsche Design - a matter of taste. Typical example of a Porsche option and the associated pricing. You have to ask yourself "how bad do I want this". You chose Burmeister so I say "full send" at this point and spend the money!!!

Nice spec - good luck and enjoy the process.

Have really appreciated rear wheel steering on our Macan 4 in city driving situations — Per porsche’s website, 4 wheel steering reduces the Macan EV’s turning radius from 39.7 feet to 36.1 feet, which makes it a lot easier for it to turn around/manuver in tight situations.

Seats - either will suit and the Sports seats have more adjustment which may intrude. If you need massage then its a slam dunk.

Wheels - 21" is ideal 20" best for overall ride comfort and range but you may not notice it and 22" will introduce more discomfort (road surface dependent and reduce range - in UK it would be a poor choice).

Rear Axle Steering (RAS) - not needed but will reduce turning circle by 1m if that's important. Can be useful for parking but the Macan EV is not a particularly large vehicle to manoeuvre. Nice option to have for sure.

Sports Chrono - both options are Sports Chrono (additional driving mode and Track setting) so the premium for the Porsche Design clock is not worth it IMHO - standard chrono clock is just fine.

Club leather (personal choice) but not worth the premium IMHO unless it's colour driven.

Side blades in body colour (personal choice) look better IMHO.

Model designation - we all know its electric!

Rear wiper (should be standard) but in the Macan it does reduce rear view (check one out in the flesh). Works fine with no wiper when on the move but if raining and stationary then that's a pain.

Heated front window is worth having if you experience frosts / snow - not a wire mesh and so invisible.

Seat belt in standard Turbonite might be a better colour match than chalk. Shame there isn't a truffle option.

Too many Porsche logos (!) - front headrests would suffice but again personal preference.

Passenger Display - limited value IMHO

Burmester not worth the investment in the Macan - Bose is as far as I'd go. If you are an audiophile then perhaps but remember this is a car with road and wind noise. You could consider optioning thermal and noise insulating glass which might help but won't curtail road noise from the footwells. Again as these are pricey options I would see if your dealer has a car - demo or otherwise where you could road test / try out.

Colour - at least the render of Oak Green is close to real life compared to the Taycan rendition - nice colour in the sunshine. Gentian is nice too.

Take any free option going - smoking package (a removable cup with lid) so can be used elsewhere.

Enjoy the experience but did you consider the new Cayenne EV at all? Wait a few months and there will be more models in the range.

Great color, outside and in (I have the truffle interior, it is stunning).

Very glad you chose the rear wiper. There has been a fair amount of content here about this, some feeling it detracts from the look of the car, and also slightly decreases range, but I wouldn't consider a hatchback without it. I use the wiper most mornings, clearing the morning dew, etc. While you can use the rear defroster....it takes way too long for it to clear the moisture.

I had the green, as a loaner, on 22'. Very happy with my car in gentian Blue. Both are gorgeous. Green slightly rarer, as more expensive.

Blue is on 21'. In UK the 22' tended to tramline more.

No matrix lights?, are these allowed now in USA? They are fantastic.

Rear wiper is great, car seems to hold a lot of water on the roof, so used a lot early in a trip. Heated front screen also good.

Most important: Add Thermal/Noise Insulated Windows, and add Drive Assist!

You absolutely want to add the thermal/noise insulated windows! This significantly increases the luxury feel of the car. It's very nice and quiet!

Rear steering -- great for parking and tight maneuvering.

I've never needed the rear wiper (I don't have it.) If you're in a different state, your need may vary.

Sport chrono -- you want this, but you don't need the porsche design clock. I didn't get this; wish I had it.

You'll want to add Drive Assist, unless you never go distances on freeways.

The remote park assist is unfortunately not very helpful.

I wouldn't add the passenger display -- it's actually just a much wider main display, with two "sections" on it in software. Then again, my use is >95% commuting, so it's very rare I have passengers, and if I do, they don't mind the center display ...

Rims: If you go on rough roads, 20" is the better ride (more rubber, less metal)
If you go on freeways but they are maintained by CalDOT, you will slam into sudden potholes, where 20" will have a better chance of surviving the impact than 21" or 22".
If you park near a curb, 20" is slightly less likely to get curb rash than the bigger rims.
The bigger rims look better, though!
I went with 20".

Seats -- I had to go with 14-way seats, because they have adjustable headrests that go back enough (I'm a smidge over 6', and the non-adjustable headrests intruded too much.)
I'd also add the ventilation, it's nice on very warm days. The best way to upgrade this is really the Premium Package that also comes with the Bose sound system. I *would* probably drop the cash on the Burmester upgrade on top of that, but most people probably wouldn't need it. (And, TBH, the Bose is just loud enough before it bottoms out -- I really shouldn't be listening that loudly ...)

Color: I'd go with the green :) Also, for seatbelts, if you can't get a well matching color, a contrastic color is a better option IMO, so your choice seems okay.

Well, there you have it.

I would agree with Jwatte. I added Drive Assist and I am not sure if you get cross traffic assist without it. I like Burmester and I have the Porsche Design clock on my Panamera GTS but I did not add it to the Macan.

Rear wheel steering is very noticeable in the city, but depends on your needs. Some like it, some not. Test drive it if you can.

I read through many of the responses and I see a few in favor of the Rear Axle Steering. I wanted to add my thumbs up for that. I almost skipped it but got it at the last minute and have to say it is my favorite feature of the car....by far. It transforms the car into an agile beast and you into parking and tight turn magician. Say goodbye to three point turns as the turning radius is fantastic with it. With the Turbo you should also get Torque vectoring as standard. I recently drove a Turbo with both and the combo is noticable and I am talking about daily driving as I am not a track person.

Seats are really important. You should sit in them and drive in both of them to decide. I personally would never touch the 14 way after I tried the 18 way but only after I tried them both. You don't want to speculate on that as there is a noticable difference.

Back on the Turbo I tried. It had a HUD and a passenger display. The HUD is amazing. I wish I had taken it. If I did I would probably never look at the display map again. The passenger display confirmed my theory that it is not particuarly useful so I am glad I skipped that one.

Regaring wheels. That Turbo had 22 inch and to my surprise I did not notice a big difference between that and my 20 inch although that test drive was on good to moderate roads. I cannot say what it would be like on bad roads but it seems like the airsuspension does a really good job with anything you pick. I see you picked the 21 inch and they look good.

Finally, I did not go for the Truffle brown because it looked too orangish in some bright light photos. I have never seen it in real life but if I were you I would try to find one in person. Don't go by the configurator on it as it looks different (more than other things). Most dealers have actual samples you can look at now. I suggest that if the dealer does not have a car with it in stock car they can get you a sample to look at. Again, I would not speculate especally if your not sure about the external color. I did see an adventurine green in photos and it looks good with summerwood and neodyme accents (see photos for reference). Classy inside and out. Might also be good with oak green or C blue.

my 2 cents.

I am awaiting my MY26 Turbo (February build/April delivery), so my comments reflect what I decided to order and not what I’ve experienced yet as an owner (I decided not to take delivery of the MY25 I’d ordered in order to take advantage of some of the MY26 options - particularly the new camera hardware/software, digital key, and transparent hood).

Among the options selected for the MY26:
PTS
Rear Wheel Steering (have this on my Audi Q7 and it’s been indispensable - makes a large SUV maneuver like a compact car)
Gloss black calipers, window trim, air blades
Side blades and rear lower fascia in body color
Burmester- for better mid range
Leather interior in black with Turbonite accents
Center console in leather with deviated stitching in Turbonite
22” Spyders in Turbonite
Electric logo in gloss black (with deletion of model designation on rear)
Sport chrono
Headlights in black
Rear light strip in black
Augmented HUD
Thermally/nose insulated glass front and rear
Winter wheel set with 22” Exclusive Design Wheels in gloss black

I did not opt for Porsche logo on seats

Enjoy this process and best wishes for putting together a great build!
